Cask at Volo Cask Days 2009. 22 IBU, 4.5% abv. Lots of coffee grounds, drying. Brown with soapy Caesar head. Chalky taste, consistency. Dry hops but not getting the hops. Not a great porter.

Aromas of dark roasted malts mostly. Coffee dominates, some dark chocolate, maybe. It pours almost black, if you hold it to a light you can see some brown-red in it too. A small head was produced, medium head retention and moderate lacing. Medium bodied. Average carbonation. Overall, it’s a pretty good porter, but would have liked more of that sweet caramel flavour that I find in porters sometimes.

Cask at ’Volo Cask Days 2009’. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a spare diminishing fizzy off-white head. Aroma is lightly roasty along with some coffee and chocolate. Flavour of light roasted malt with a short roasty bitter finish. Average bodied. An OK Porter.

On tap at Taps. Pours a deep cola black with a medium sized creamy tanned beige head. Chicory, coffee, light chocolate and roast notes. On the thin side of medium, lots of roast, faint bitter cocoa. Finishes with loads of roast. Glad I save this and the pumpkin until the end. Stars of the show hands down.

Cask. At Volo Cask Days 2009. Cloudy deep red-brown with a tiny off-white head. Roasty, nutty aroma, caramel sweetness and mildly floral. The taste follows, but with an admix of off-putting sour acidity - light of body, acidic, even squeaky, coated my tongue and left it harsh, almost lemony - no thank you.

On cask at Volo Cask days: Appearance: Murky, raspberry, no head. Aroma: Leather, rye, rubber, kind of like tyres skidding! Flavour: Butter, plastic, smoke and peat with a long malt finish.

[2559-20091031] Cask. Alcohol and odd earthy coffee roast aroma. Murky, dark brown body without a head. Earthy dark roast malt flavour. Medium-full body. Weird, wouldn’t want a pint but is an interesting recipe.

Appearance: cloudy ,hazed amber-brown ale. Rocky tanned top presented.3+
Nose: Clean , presentable roasted aroma , good feel , touch of fruity malts.
Flavor/Palate : Mellow , mid bodied , low carbonation. Hint of roast on sides. Mid brown malt. Friendly ale.
