| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 11, 2005 Sampled on 8/1/05: Clear, deep mahogany with a nicely-lacing off-white head. Sweet deep caramel toffee aroma has some nice light fruity complexity. Body has lots of dense, sweet malt with notes of cherries, toffee and butterscotch. Nicely balanced with a warming, complex finish. This seems a bit young and alcoholic, but should age very well. riversideAK (2803), Shoreline, Washington, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 23, 2007 A subdued sweet toffee aroma with notes of vegetables? Copper color with a beige head. Sour and hoppy with notes of vinnegar and vegetables. Was it supposed to taste that way? Did not like this one either. badlizard (2394), Berkeley, California, USA

Aroma of fruit, caramel and must; hint of alcohol. Flavor was fruity, bready, caramel and alcohol. Some barleywine-like components here. Some sweetness throughout. Pretty tasty brew. ajm (965), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jul 6, 2008 I thought this was straight-up genius. First off, the batch they were pouring on July 3rd, 2008 was 9.2%, and it was a brown monster: very full bodied (not dark roasted, but full like a broth) and concealed its alcohol very very well. Breadcrust was the top note, with a midsection of warm nut and a finish like... heat without burn. Very nice.
