On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazy gold. Aroma is the normal weizen spice. Flavour is typical of the style as well, until the finish, where you get a nice taste of vanilla.

On tap at Taps on Queens in Niagara Falls. Pours a hazy golden yellow with a thin white head. Lemon, barely a hint of vanilla, and it may only be because I’m actively searching it out, light clove and banana. Light citrus, medium bodied, nice lemon notes, creamy mouthfeel. Finishes with a nice hint of banana and yeast.

Cloudy blond. The aroma is wheat and vanilla. Body is thin, with a mix of vanilla, breadiness, light toastiness, and a hint of fruit. Tough to drink more than a splash of this stuff...way too artificial.

Hazy pale gold with medium off-white head. Aroma of salt water taffee like a candy shop but a good one. Actually not too sweet and does not smell like artificial vanilla. Phenols are present. Mellow mouthfeel and not too carbonated. Not too sweet, but thin with some graininess like a scone.

On tap at the Castle. In one word, I would describe this as, ’unnecessary’. Pretty putrid, awful beer to be totally honest. Taps a somewhat hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is of, well, I couldn’t even quite figure it out. It’s like, pen ink, mixed with rotten vegetables, and a whole slew of chemicals that are probably cancer-causing. Only the slightest, most minute traces of vanilla scream for attention whilst being mauled to death by the surrounding shady characters. The flavour is even worse. NO vanilla, just hardcore chemicals, actual garbage (like that stench from a filled dumpster of the back of a garbage truck), and indistinct rotten vegetables being the most prominent aspect. Damn, good thing I didn’t have a FULL pint of this crap. Notice the absent mention of wheat. There is none. What’s more horrifying than the beer itself, was that my server told me that some people absolutely love the stuff. Good God. This brewery really needs to get their act together, everything I have of there’s is just awful, with the exception of a SINGLE can of their red cream ale.

On tap at the Judge- Hazy dark yellow with a tiny bubbled off white cap. Yeasty nose with some citrus and wheat malt, but lacking the banana punch and clove I look for in a hefe. The taste is a bit better, and comes equipped with oranges and banana, lemon and wheat malts, a bit spicy. Creamy, fruity, yeasty finish with no trace of the mentioned vanilla. All in all, a tasty local hefe.

Aroma has a hint of wheat, malt didn’t notice vanilla, opague yellow/orange, tiny white head. Tastes of orange, malt and wheat, again vanilla is absent? Light bodied, tangy/tart, balanced, dry and refreshing. Good.

[712-20070928] Tap @ C’est What 2007 FOSB (Toronto, ON). Heavy on the wheat, aroma has a bit of ginger and a hint of lemon. Murky, yellow light brown body with a medium-lasting creamy white head. Heavy wheat continues in flavour with a hint of lemon banana aftertaste and a nod towards the vanilla bean. Medium body seems complex. Nice, unfortunately the vanilla is more hidden than anticipated.
