Commercial Description:
Available on draught in select bars and restaurants, Tarpon Spoon is characterized by its classic toasted malt flavors, which are balanced by its complex blend of spicy, citrus and floral Saaz hop aromas. Golden in color, Tarpon Spoon is a medium-bodied, full-flavored beer that is well-balanced, has a refreshing finish and a long-lasting foam head. The beer’s unique citrus aromas, combined with its color and mouth-feel, make it particularly refreshing and enjoyable in Florida’s warm and sunny climate. Tarpon Spoon is brewed with two-row malt and a touch of toasted malt. It is spiced using Saaz and Tettnanger hops, which give it the soft, rounded bitterness and flavor of a Bohemian pilsner.

On tap at Don’s in Metairie, LA. Served in a frozen mug. This beer was very refreshing, but just not much flavor. A good summer beer. It really tasted like much of the mass produced beer in the U.S. but worth a try.

Draught (Busch Gardens, Tampa): Pours medium golden with a 1.5 inch white head that lasts 5 minutes. Aroma of a good skunky pils, with malt and saaz hops overpowering. Flavor is bitter and sweet/skunky and a little gummy. Medium body with above average carbonation. Finish is toasty malt, and bitter.

Too light and a little watery, I guess the sunky aroma turned my off, I ’m not much of a pilsner fan anyway

Sampled at GABF 2007. Clear fluorescent yellow with a synthetic head. Slightly grainy aroma. Water bomb thinness. Perhaps a breif dunking of a teabag full of hops into each bottle, but other than that, I’m not sure how this differs from their other gazillion barrel madness.

Draught into Tarpon Spoon footed pilsner on holiday. Not bad for A-B. Notes of citrus in aroma with a clean crisp flavour.

I feel bad rating this beer because i had it on a crisp winter’s night and not a hot summer afternoon, so it really felt out of season as i consumed it. Pours a very pale color with medium head. Aroma is pleasant and mildly floral. Could have wished for a more prominent flavor and aroma but the palate is smooth. Drink this when its 80 degrees plus outside to appreciate it fully. Also disappointed to realize that its produced by AB and not locally brewed (for me at least) in Tarpon Springs, Florida.

On tap in the Hospitality Room at the A-B Brewery, Jacksonville Florida. Clear golden yellow beer with a medium white head that fades after a short while. Light floral hop aroma. Flavor is lightly sweet pale malts, with a good hop flavor, then a clean finish. Fair amount of carbonation. Not spectacular or memorable, but certainly drinkable and decent.

Draft... Clear yellow lager with a mid-sized, frothy, white head that’s... zap!... gone in a flash. Sweet, grainy nose and flavor. Lightly hopped to cut into the sweetness and provide a tiny hop zing. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Short, crisp, refreshing finish. Went well with raw oysters and dolphin fish.
