| A Heller Bock brewed by Taylor Brewing Company Lombard, Illinois USA
| |
Cornfield (4329), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Jul 21, 2005 At the pub: This poured a bright amber body with, alas, a bit of a bubbly white film for a head! The aroma made up for it, rich and malty, nice sweet caramel. Full-bodied, the caramel malt is amplified in the tasting, accompanied by a few fresh apples and a solid hit of herbal hop bitterness in the finish. I would’ve pegged this uncomplicated beer as a Vienna rather than a bock, but who really cares when a brew is this refreshing? Taylor Brewing Company, Lombard, IL
Drnk_McDermott (1562), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Jul 20, 2005 Updated: Jul 21, 2005Draft. U.S. Beer 20 of 31 for American Beer Month! I learned from the bartender that when the menu lists this beer as being from "Taylor Brewing, Middleton, WI," that means it’s contract brewed by Capital. Nice presentation, except the glass was a little smeared. Nice deep orange-amber hue. Just a touch of caramel malt that better fits a general German or Vienna profile than a bock. Good "beer" smell, though there’s just a little something off about it. Still, a rich malty taste well matched by German hop bitterness make this a substantial lawnmower beer.
