| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jul 25, 2006 I actually enjoyed this beer quite a bit. Maybe I was biased; it was disgustingly hot outside and anything wet and cold probably would have tasted great, but I thought it had a nice clean, slighty corny taste. Vastly superior to Corona IMO. | 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 2/20 | Jul 22, 2006 So really this tasted better than the Miller Lite that my homie gave me at the same time. I went on a long drunken ride with a bunch of people last weekend and the Tecate was flowin’ Flavor is, well, not really present. I was into it until my friend passed me this special brownie, after that everything kinda gets confused, Anyway, the tecate was malty and sweet, with no discernable hop aroma or flavor. Good beer for drinkin while you’re riding with 1000 other people in a mass "fuck you" ride against the LA opression.
Ummmm Is this beer? DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Jul 17, 2006 (12 oz bottle: BevMo in La Jolla, CA) It’s really sweltering here in San Diego today, all the way up to 80 degrees! There probably won’t be a better time to sample some Tecate than when I’m suffering in this oppressive heat! Tecate strikes me as being really sweet for a Mexican lager, noticeably more sweet than any of the others I’ve had. To go along with the sweetness, I am also struck by the spicy notes on the first few sips, but those quickly meld into the overall flavor, disappearing all together after awhile. The malts, if I may be so bold as to call them that, are a bit doughy and corny, and with no bitterness (and certainly nothing resembling hops) to counter, this beer gets really stale on the palate pretty quickly. It’s light bodied, but with the excessive sweetness holding on well into the finish, the beer doesn’t seem watery. The nose is fairly sweet and a little doughy as well. Pale straw in color with wonderful clarity, this would be a decent looking beer if only the white head were taller on the pour and didn’t fade into oblivion within a few minutes. Not the worst-tasting Mexican beer I’ve had, but close. The cheap sweetness is rather overbearing and perhaps masks an otherwise awful underbelly. Papsoe (15107), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jul 9, 2006 (Bottle 33 cl) Pilsener golden with a bubbly, white, dissipating head. Sweetish, malty nose. Medium body with a marked malt sweetness, while the corn flavours are more subdued than in other Mexicans - thanks for that. No bitterness. 080706 freekyp (903), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA
| 1.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 4/20 | Jul 8, 2006 Updated: Sep 22, 2006Oh Tecate, why do you smell like raw sewage. Your eau de rotting cabbage is quite foul. Your sickly pale yellow body and pathetic short lived fizzy head makes you look foolish next to other beers. Still, you are quenching on a hot summer’s day, with your slightly tart finish and mildy perfumy hop "character" wafting from your thin fizzy body. Oh Tecate, you could have been so much more... bdjames29 (272), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 2, 2006 A 2.3 because it was wonderful when I drank it. Little Mexican Bottle - Alfonso’s Mexican Pizza - Ensenada, MX. It was hot and I hadn’t had beer all week. I was sitting outside eating Mexican style pizza sipping Tecate. I had 3 and all 3 were breathtaking. My favorite of the Mexican piss-beers. Much better than Corona.
