Commercial Description:
Telegraph California Ale is our flagship beer and is our interpretation of the unique ales that were commonly brewed up and down the West Coast in the 19th century. It is an unfiltered, medium-bodied beer, with a rich amber color and a rocky, white head. The beer is crafted using domestic American ingredients and fermented with a unique yeast strain that accentuates the hoppy spiciness, while also imparting fruity and subtly sour flavors. The aromas are spicy and earthy, reminiscent of the rich agricultural valleys surrounding Santa Barbara.

Bottle, Thanks to Bu11zeye. Poured a orangish color that was hazy and included sediment, and an off-white head. aroma has fruity notes with very slight bannana. Flavor much the same as aroma with a nice slight hoppy flavor. Medium body and medium carbonation......over all, not bad at all....

Bottle from South Bay. Pours an amber orange color with a thin head. Aroma is light and yeasty with some malty sweetness too. Sweet and spicy with notes of caramel and fruity esters. Light and pleasant. Nothing groundbreaking, but solid and drinkable.

7-6-08 bottle shared with lb4lb thanks to stefanje
Semi clear orange with an average head. Smell is light and slightly funky yeast. Flavor is very light and subtle - almost like a doughy sour. Very drinkable and easy to go down. Almost refreshing - not what I was expecting.

Bottle in trade from stefanje. Thanks man!
Pours an orange amber color with a semi clearness to it. Smell is fresh, yeasty hoppiness with almost a touch of funk to it. Taste is very balanced between light hoppiness, yeasty subtle tartness and fresh sweet maltiness. Overall is very refreshing to drink and a slightly unique beer with a nice flavor and no real typical belgian ale like qualities or flavors.

On tap at Father’s Office. Not what I was expecting at all (was expecting a malty and fruity California Common ala Anchor Steam on sterroids). Pours with a small, off-white head covering a clear amber brown body. Slightly sour and earthy aroma with a bit of oak and prunes aswell. Tastee has some strong leather nots as well as a bit of barnyard, tobacco, spiceyness. Very salty and herbal. A bit fizzy on the mouthfeel. Was not expecting them to use the yeast that was used here.

Bottled at Papsoes Blind tasting 19th. June 2008 nr. 7: Golden coloured. Unclear. Dense light beige head. Yeast sweetness and fruit in the aroma. Flavour of herbs, yeast, fruits, citrus and caramel. A bit bland. Meidum bodied. Sourish and citric end.
