Commercial Description:
This intensely sour "wild ale" recalls the earliest rustic beers crafted centuries ago before brewers had an understanding of controlled fermentation. Brewed with the addition of lemon verbena, as well as lactobacillus and brettanomyces. Telegraph Reserve Wheat is an all-together different beast from modern beer. Not for the faint of heart, this special brew is available in extremely limited quantities.

On tap at the stone sour ale fest 09. An interesting sour, definitely wheat. Hazy straw color, white head. Sour apple, light funky leather, wheat, bread, lemon, grass, and tartness. Not really fruity like other sours, but more breadiness and wheat, but still sour. I enjoyed it.

(Rating #2502)

750 ml bottle shared by beastiefan2k. Bottled on Jan 12, 2009. Pour is cloudy yellow with a slight golden tinge. Nice white head falls slowly with some lacing. Aroma of sour wheat, and citric tart lemons. The two flavors integrate nicely and are soft and inviting. Taste is spritzy lemon, lactic, nice tartness and a mild sour wheatiness. Palate is light, though coats the mouth nicely. Really nice and refreshing beer. Thanks for sharing this one Eugene.

Hazy watery straw yellow with a completly disapating white head. The nose is like any other wheat beer. This tastes like any wheat beer. Its not sour.

(DC Local Gathering, 22oz bottle, thanks CaptainCougar) Clear gold, fizzy white head. Bready sour lemon nose with underlying hints of nutty earthed wheat. Bretty sour lemon and earthy wheat notes are prevalent onward to the end. Light bodied, moderate carbonation, soft fruity sour finish. A well done summer refresher…

Draft. A hazy light golden beer with a thin lazing white head. The aroma is slightly acidic with notes of brettanomyces and friut. The flavor is sweet with acidic notes of brettanomyces as well as notes of citrus fruit and some wheat, leading to a dry wheaty and slightly tart finish.

In short: A very wild (somewhat bretty) dry and tart wheaty brew. Tasty, original and refreshing.
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed fresh soon after purchase. Tasting session with Montreal crew.
The look: Cloudy yellow body topped by a medium white head
In long: Nose is lemony and wild. Stop. Taste is wild with moderate brett presence. Stop. Malts have dry wheat/straw character. Stop. Fruity flavours of lemon zest and some orange peels. Stop. Nice fluffy body. Stop. Very dry and Tart. Stop. This is what I was hoping the Jolly Pumpkin Weizen Bam to be. Stop. Nice Telegraph. Stop.

Tap at City Beer. I think my problem with this beer is it is so ’refreshing’ that it overloads my palate. Color is very bright yellow with mid-to-low haze and a staunch head. Nose is highly floury and sour. Flavor is lemon concentrate, sour wheat and more flour. Rather thin but in this flavor that makes it almost sharpened. Finish is very quick and roundly, fruitily sour.
