Commercial Description:
The rhinoceros may not be the king of the jungle, but he commands respect nonetheless. Powerful and distinctive, Telegraph Rhinoceros pays homage to one of the world’s most majestic and endangered creatures. Brewed with a hefty dose of rye malt and balanced by a ridiculous amount of hops, our "rye wine" is truly a unique beast. Be careful... this rhino may seem mellow at first, but is known to charge unexpectedly!

750mL cork and caged bottle. This one opens with a big pop and pours with a massive bubbly head over a hazy reddish amber body with lots of bubbles streaming to the top. The aroma is interesting as it’s like a cross between a rye pale ale and a barleywine. The first thing I notice is the slightly spicy rye with a solid hoppiness as well. This is complimented by a sweet sugary caramel malt and dark fruit combination in the background. The taste leans more toward a barleywine than the aroma with the sweet caramel malts being more prevalent with a slight citrus hoppiness up front as well. The rye is most evident in the finish where there is a definite spiciness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with tons of carbonation. In fact, the carbonation is probably a little overdone for my liking. The alcohol becomes pretty evident after a few sips. I really like this beer and I like what the rye adds to othe barleywine character. The overcarbonation takes away a bit but it’s still a solid effort.

Thanks to Monie & Todd for brining this to The Bruery’s Beer Geek Show & Tell. Lively, malty and tasty, it was good to drink, but give it a year or two and I’d bet it would be excellent

Bottle thanks to SamGamgee: Pours a transparent deep golden bronze with a frothy well-lacing off-white head. Aroma of lightly caramely sweet toasty caramel malts and a touch of light fruitiness. Starts with good fullness and rich toasty light caramel maltiness with some fresh strawberry and light fruity complexity before a drier, more bitter and warming finish. Needs a little more flavor hoppiness with some sweeter malty balance.

Pours a lightly hazy amber with a large foamy white head. Aroma of American hops (citrus, floral and piney), toffee and light dark fruits. Flavor of toasted malt, dark fruits, spicy rye notes, caramel and a good bit of hop flavor and bitterness.
