Aroma of hard roasted malts and Belgian yeast. Medium body, over carbonated, hard roasted malts, licorice and strange phenols. Some malt bitterness. Not exactly convincing. 231109 BBB63 (4232), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 21, 2009 Bottle and served in my NB worthy glass: Mahogany hued with a huge frothy head and good lace. (Slightly gusher and infected perhaps, but methinks intentionally done based upon the barrel and techniques used to make the beer). The aroma has notes of plum and grape, lactic acid, herbal and grassy hops, caramel, walnut and chocolate malts, hint of smoke and coffee. The taste is twangy and fruity with a in your face lacto component. These "soured" dark brews sometimes work and sometimes don’t (read New Glarus Old English Porter, arrgh), I happen to like the combination here, the nutty and chocolate side still shows nicely. The mouth feel is touch chalky and thin however with a wood and tinny note. Overall it is a interesting beer that some will not enjoy, I did however. smashteroid (251), USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 16, 2009 Served cold from tap. Pours dark brown with a moderate beige head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts and fruit. Flavor is mostly chocolate with a hint of sourness. Good, but wouldn’t mind a stronger barrel flavor. Snojerk321 (1990), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 22, 2009 750ml bottle from Olive Tree Market. Pleasantly surprised with this one, Pours a deep cola brown with a good sized bubbly beige head. Nose was roasted malts, coffee grounds, and faint dark berry fruits. Flavor was also quite roasty and reminiscent of the zin barrel. Thankfully, not another drain pour from Telegraph. travita (1926), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 5, 2009 Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. The look is brown to black in color and has a beige colored head. The smell is malts, sweet, roasty, and some chocolate. The taste is roasty, chocolate, nuts, and malts. Ibrew2or3 (2766), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 1, 2009 Pours brown with amber edges and initially blooming tan (infected looking) head. The aroma is sharp acidic infection with murmurs of the sweet malt, nutty, mildly roasty notes in the background. The taste is the same with echoes of prunes, chocolate fudge, roasted malts and nuttiness well behind the bottle flaw going on here. So this rate is mainly based on the non-infected qualities of this beer. sebletitje (1925), Tampa, Florida, USA

Aroma of rotten apple, hints of chocolate.
Flavors, light malts, some chocolate, followed by apple notes. Light roast.
I could get some elements of what the beer was supposed to be, but clearly did not pick up any hints of barrel or port in this one.
Would not mind trying a newer batch.
That’s 2 or 2 on Telegraph beers that seem to have been infected. jkwalking05 (1484), Arlington, Texas, USA
