Commercial Description:
Staying true to original porter brewing techniques,we blend fresh brewed beer with an oak-barrel aged ale to create our Stock Porter.Dark and complex, yet eminently drinkable, this beer is a tantalizing combination of coffee and chocolate aromas married to delicate fruit notes, revealing hints of the California zinfandel that once filled our barrels.

750 ml bottle from Bev4less. Pours a hazy brown color with a fair khaki head that has good retention. The aroma is of sour yeast, earthy breads, oak and a bit of cocoa. The flavor is sour with grapes, dates, light cocoa and acidic leather. The mouthfeel is light and acidic, but builds to a full malty conclusion. The finish is medium in duration and a bit sour. Overall: This is the third Telegraph brew that I have rated and they all have exactly the same sour characteristic. I’m guessing that this is either from their barrels or their yeast, either way I’m finding it a bit redundant. Not bad, but not impressed either.

June 2008 Bottle. Pours with a large, light brown, creamy head and a black body. Great lacing and head retention. Aroma of dark fruits, coffee, milk chocolate, oak and some vinous spiciness. Taste is lactose, dry coffee grounds, milk chocolate, vinous elements with plums. Lively bubbles and creamy mouthfeel.

Pours dark brown, nearly black, with a short tan head. Robust aroma with anise, mint, oak barrel, and roasted malt. Vinuous taste blended with earthy malt and tart, bretty sourness. Sill had a lingering licorice tone as well. Fair amount of cocoa and coffee. I like the fuinkiness of these Telegraph beers.

Appearance is a clear, deep garnet and red color with a egg white head.. Rich, roasty malty aroma with some dry wood. Medium bodied. Nice flavors of roasted blackened malts with light chocolate, drys out for the finish with a tasty oak flavor.

Bottle from Whole Foods, University. The cork almost killed me as it blew out of the bottle. Dark brownish in color with a lot of foam. Dry and roasty chocolate aroma. Somewhat sour for the style. A little sweet and tart. Some fruitiness along with a little chocolate. Pretty thin body. Decent brew.

draft @ Najas - thick, dark brown with thin tan head; roasted malts and oak aromas; drinks with a silky smoothness that is quite rich; vanilla, chocolate and woody; dry and roasty finish; very nice

Appearance: Pours a dark brown, near black body with a thin, beige-colored head. Smell: Blend of star anise, dark, roast malts, and an expressive winey oaken character. Taste: Dark, roasty malts displaying mainly, for me at least, a taste of licorice. Never much malty sweetness. Hint of cola nuts. Slight earthy bitterness. Definitely a winey, fruit flavor and accompanying tartness throughout. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-high carbonation. Drinkability: Not bad, not great. Perhaps not worth all the work they put into it, though.
