Commercial Description:
Staying true to original porter brewing techniques,we blend fresh brewed beer with an oak-barrel aged ale to create our Stock Porter.Dark and complex, yet eminently drinkable, this beer is a tantalizing combination of coffee and chocolate aromas married to delicate fruit notes, revealing hints of the California zinfandel that once filled our barrels.

Pours dark brown, nearly black, with a short tan head. Robust aroma with anise, mint, oak barrel, and roasted malt. Vinuous taste blended with earthy malt and tart, bretty sourness. Sill had a lingering licorice tone as well. Fair amount of cocoa and coffee. I like the fuinkiness of these Telegraph beers.

Growler, via BA Solomon420. Pours a dark coffee brown body under a fizzy and foamy brown head that faded to a thin ring. Minimal visible carbonation. The nose is chocolaty and roasty with some noticable hoppiness, some raw oak tannins, and a little dark fruit. The flavor is nicely roasty with a mix of fruitiness and light oak tannins fading to a moderately bitter and hoppy finish. The oak is OK, but maybe a little too raw tasting. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a slightly oily texture and a slightly clingy finish. Nice soft gentle carbonation. Overall, this was a pretty decent Porter. I think that they struck a nice balance of regular to oak aged beer.

Poured a dark chestnut color with a large, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla, red wine, chocolate, nuts, and toffee. Taste of roast, bakers chocolate, red wine grapes, vanilla, light smoke, toffee, and vanilla. Thanks to Josh for sharing!

Dark ruby brown color with a small head. Aroma has some red wine and light roast, hint of pepper and wood. Flavor is light, smooth, sweet, woody and winey. A bit light and thin for the wine aging but still pretty nice.

On tap at City Beer, San Francisco, 28th March 09. Good vanilla oak aroma and flavour. Smooth palate, not too heavy. Dry rather than sweet.

bomber bottled dec 22, 2008 by way of the bman... pours a pale ruby shade of coffee brown with a light brown head and lots of splotchy lacing. aromas of scalded cream, roasty grain, lightly toasted wood, earth, something savory, vinous/red wine, spice and vanilla. flavors of chocolate, charcoal, that same savory note which i can assume is yeast?, rich red wine and earthy smoke. there is a definite tannic thing happening which draws in the cheeks before an aftertaste of coffee. . it is medium bodied with a pleasant acidity/mf. 8/3/8/3/16.5/3.85

June 2008 Bottle. Pours with a large, light brown, creamy head and a black body. Great lacing and head retention. Aroma of dark fruits, coffee, milk chocolate, oak and some vinous spiciness. Taste is lactose, dry coffee grounds, milk chocolate, vinous elements with plums. Lively bubbles and creamy mouthfeel.
