AaronBouchard (107), Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada Apr 19, 2007 It has a bit of charactor to it but at the same time it has the same smoothness I find in most moosehead products. Not much of an aroma. A little week for an ale but it is a well balanced beer. It tastes like most commerical lagers with an extra bitter that gives it a nice touch that makes it an ale. pootzboy (871), Calgary/ Kitchener, Alberta, Canada Sep 10, 2006 Bottle: I last had this when Oland’s brewed it. Then it was on par with Okeefe’s extra old stock. This moosehead version has more ale character than most commercial east coast brews but still is too bland and unpronounced to be considered a premium ale.
Poured a darker gold , small white cap vanished quickly.... weak lacing,...
sweet aroma some grains.
Weak malt backbone, soapy mouthfeel.
Some sweet malts up front with some light apple tones and weak woody hops to balance, mid palate it goes thin and ends with a quick clean tasteless finish....a better commercial ale would be black pearl.
JoeMcPhee (3815), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jan 10, 2006 341 ml bottle. Pale golden beer topped by a thick off-white head. Faint aroma, pale malt, apple esters, light straw-like malt/hop nose. Flavour is a bit grainy, but otherwise fairly clean. Pale malt, light apple flavour. Very light earthy bitterness. Decent enough beer but not a great one. jerc (3217), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 3, 2005 Bottle. Golden yellow, small white head. Mild grainy aroma, not much aroma. Mild bitterness, touch of grainy malt and mild notes of fruit. Decent, fairly standard macro brew but slightly above average in terms of flavour quantity. Average palate. Tessic (383), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Oct 1, 2004 This ale pours a clear yellow with a bright white foamy head. Bread dough is the strongest scent presant. Slightly grassy notes. First taste was clean and almost tastless. A slight cardboard taste to it. Pretty watery. The palate is grassy with a very small amount of hops.
