Commercial Description:
Fat Bear Stout is carefully crafted using traditional European stout recipes. The full bodied brew is characterized by smooth roasty flavors and malty aromas from brown, roasted and two row malts. The combinations of pure water from the ancient springs of Saratoga, spiced with English Target and American Cascade hops varieties, makes Fat Bear a complex yet easy drinking stout.

Huge head. Dark brown appearance. Roasted malt aroma with hints of fruit. Smooth malty taste and finish.

An ok stout. Nice head along with a pungent aroma. Tastes a little grainy but not too bad. Not great but not bad either.

Pours with an enormous tan head that takes a while to settle, and has a clear red/brown body. Aroma is sweet and malty, some cherry and some roastiness. Taste is malty, slightly sweet, with more pronounced roastiness and healthy cherry. Bitterness in aftertaste is mostly attributable to the roastiness, though hops do sneak in once it's warmed sufficiently. Highly carbonated body detracts from the flavor. Improves as it warms.

This bear has so much carbonation that my mouth can hardly contain the foam generated with each sip, which is fitting considering the aftertaste kind of reminds me of dishwashing liquid. The initial taste isn’t that bad, and the appearance is alright, so this brew isn’t horrible. But it certainly isn’t good either.

This rating based on a well-aged bottle. I really liked the way that this one smelled -- very, very mellow chocolate while still highlighting the dark malts. Exceptionally smooth drinking, striking a good balance in bittering between the hops and the dark roasted malts. Appearance gets a minor ding for having no head at all, but the label and brew appearance were right on. Palate is medium-bodied, with just the right bitterness and pH. Well done.

hmm, guess i'll have to try it again. had a bottle and didnt like it. WAY TOO MUCH carbonation. thin body, and not complex enough. just your basic amercan stout. roasty but not spectacular in any way. I didnt even want to finish this one.
