Commercial Description:
Fat Bear Stout is carefully crafted using traditional European stout recipes. The full bodied brew is characterized by smooth roasty flavors and malty aromas from brown, roasted and two row malts. The combinations of pure water from the ancient springs of Saratoga, spiced with English Target and American Cascade hops varieties, makes Fat Bear a complex yet easy drinking stout.

Pours with an enormous tan head that takes a while to settle, and has a clear red/brown body. Aroma is sweet and malty, some cherry and some roastiness. Taste is malty, slightly sweet, with more pronounced roastiness and healthy cherry. Bitterness in aftertaste is mostly attributable to the roastiness, though hops do sneak in once it's warmed sufficiently. Highly carbonated body detracts from the flavor. Improves as it warms.

Bottle shared by goldtwins: Pours an opaque black with a forthy nicely-lacing tan head. Sweet caramel and chocolate malty aroma has some aged malty character and a hint of light fruit. Body starts lightly sweet and citric turning more tart and roasty toward the thinner, fruity finish. Good aroma, but the body is too tart, most likely due to age.

Thanks to goldtwins for this one. Pours dark brown/ruby with a huge tan head. Not much lacing, but the head stayed around forever. Aroma of malt, chocoff, cabernet, and fruit. The taste showed roasty malt, with fruitiness, some nuttiness, and some finishing kriekiness. Palate was lighter than most stouts. This one had some Newcastle brown alishness to it, and was nicely complex. Quaffable.

Poured a clear very dark brown with a ruby hue and medium tan head. Sweet and roasty aroma. Chocolate with a hint of coffee and a light tartness. Flavor of tart and roasty malt. Light to medium body.

hmm, guess i'll have to try it again. had a bottle and didnt like it. WAY TOO MUCH carbonation. thin body, and not complex enough. just your basic amercan stout. roasty but not spectacular in any way. I didnt even want to finish this one.

A very smooth malty stout, with lots of caramel roastedness. Pours a deep rich brown color with a nice frothy tan head. Nice and nutty, balanced and very smooth.
