Bullit (585), Glasgow, Scotland Oct 5, 2008 Light brown colour, medium off-white head. Aroma has grassy hops, along with a grainy smell. Flavour has caramel malts, hops giving some bitterness. Forgettable. kmacphail (37), Isle of Lewis, Scotland Aug 6, 2008 It pours a nice dark red colour with a decent cream head, however this doesn’t last long enough. It has a waft of fruitiness and nuts along with the dominant hop smell.
The hoppy character continues with the taste and also a hint of caramel, which is a nice addition and make this pleasant to taste. The mouthfeel is a good, but a bit watery for the beer type, however this means that it is a very drinkable session beer, that is not too heavy on the stomach the next day.
This is very drinkable and is probably one of the better of the commercially produced Heavies. However there are better alternatives on the market, I would try a heavy from a micro brewery and then you will be able to tell the difference. Can and as Velvet on tap.
Light brown with white head. Caramel and nut aroma and flavor. Corn crispness. iammarc (179), Inverness, Scotland Jul 28, 2008 Used to drink this often at lunchtimes, a good light meal in itself. Light brown in colour, nutty notes, tasting of currents. Careful where you buy from, must be tap - avoid cans. larsga (2311), Oslo, Norway Mar 29, 2008 Updated: Jul 17, 2008Medium creamy offwhite lasting head settles quickly, forming a sharp line against the chestnut brown body. Rich malty fruity aroma with metallic notes. Dry milky earthy stale malt taste with roasty metallic notes. Some maize as well. A bit watery. Sharpish mouthfeel. Quite fizzy. Overall a bit articial. (0.44l can, Coop, Ballycastle, Northern Ireland. Rated twice.)
