Sweet dunkel/doppelbocky aroma with malt loaf, choc coated raisin, brown sugar, some discreet strawberry Hubba Bubba and an undercurrent of piney menthol hop. Quite boozy on the palate for the ABV; brown ale eisbock and Kasteel Donker shandy impressions, prunes, slight lactic softness, choc, lingering raisin. Milky, dried fruity, hazelnut-hinting and wafting with alcohol. Thinnish, but with some yeasty interest. Pretty good. Wim (1321), Turnhout, Belgium

A pretty good dubbel to be honest, decent malts, some fruit, Yes, it’s basic and simple and the malts could be fuller but I do like it. Again very drinkable and very likeable. Drank it whilst quite drunk and it didn’t jar, so it must have been good. Solidish Yves (1050), Beerse, Belgium

Pours very dark mahogany - bordering on black with red edges. Fine, frothy, staying, off-white head on top. Nice fruity aroma, lots of figs, plums and raisins. Good yeast, some chocolate with a milky touch. Highish carbonation, fine mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, dried fruits with a surprisingly large amount of sweet milky chocolate. Almost coffee-like in a dry and relatively bitter finish. Better than its rating suggests, though there is a bit of a metallic off-flavour that brings it down a bit.
