Commercial Description:
Help us celebrate American Independence and American Beer Month in July with the release of the Terrapin All-American Imperial Pilsner. This beer was brewed using only American malts, American hops, and American yeast. Who says you have to import ingredients from Germany to make a true Pilsner? Of course, this Pilsner is made "Terrapin Style". Hence the 75 B.U.’s, the 8% alcohol and the term "IMPERIAL Pilsner". Malt: 2-Row Pale Malt, Carapils Malt. Hops: Warrior, Mt. Hood, Santiam, Liberty, American Saaz (Dry Hop). O.G. 18.5 F.G. 4.5 B.U.’S 75 A.B.V. 8%

12oz bottle. Poured clear orange-golden, with a thick off-white head. Nice herbal, hoppy aroma. Flavor is initially malt, then piney hops take over. Hops are the focus, but supported well by malt. Really well crafted and tasty.

The aroma is strong with sweet caramel malt, citrus hops, and alcohol. The appearance is amber with a nice head. The flavor is like the aroma with a hoppy finish. The palate is super thick. I am really impressed with this beer. My only complaint is the papery aftertaste.

Bottle. A nice golden colored, sweet, heavy pilsner. Not your typical pilsner at all - hence the imperial labeling + 8% abv. not much aroma, but very sweet.... slight alcohol burn in the end... light carbonation on the palate. very hoppy, bitter finish, nice. pretty darn good stuff.

On tap at the standard. Very floral aroma and almost lilac bite to the flavor. There was something a little off with this, whether it was the tap or the beer I am not sure. There was a distinct bitterness and metallic flavor. Really hit me the wrong way. I’ll be sure to give this one another try but for now the overall score is a little low due to the bite. Nice color though.

Dark amber with an inch of head. Sweet taste and aroma. Feels syrupy in the mouth, and a bit sweet. Also the 8% feels a bit lighter than what I taste. Honestly reminds me of the DFH 120 Minute IPA, albeit not as powerful.

Bottle. Dark gold with thin head. A nice malty strong pilsner that reminds me of a DIPA but with slightly less hop aroma. Not overpowering in the alcohol and sweetness. Overall smooth drinking amped up pilsner.

Very good and strong pilsner, personally would pair it with beef. Light hops and a nutty aroma back the scent and a light butter note rounds it out. A nice and different offering with a bit of punch at 8%

Perhaps one of my least favorite styles. Bigger and "better." Pours darker than I expect. more brown than golden pilsner. Fairly flat in appearance without much of a head. Nose is malty and reminds me of walking into a brewery for a tour--boiling wort and all. Husky grains. Definitely my favorite aspect of this beer. Flavor is more malty without the biscuit crispness and hop tang of a traditional pilsner. Honestly, what makes this a double? More malt? Higher ABV? Definitely more of a malty, bready flavor and more alcohol. but not much more hops. A bit out of balance and leaning towards the malts. Crisp-ish but not light. Easy enough to drink and it packs a wallop but still not sold on this beer. Just such an odd style to get "bigger."
