Commercial Description:
Help us celebrate American Independence and American Beer Month in July with the release of the Terrapin All-American Imperial Pilsner. This beer was brewed using only American malts, American hops, and American yeast. Who says you have to import ingredients from Germany to make a true Pilsner? Of course, this Pilsner is made "Terrapin Style". Hence the 75 B.U.’s, the 8% alcohol and the term "IMPERIAL Pilsner". Malt: 2-Row Pale Malt, Carapils Malt. Hops: Warrior, Mt. Hood, Santiam, Liberty, American Saaz (Dry Hop). O.G. 18.5 F.G. 4.5 B.U.’S 75 A.B.V. 8%

Another outstanding Terrapin Beer Company offering. Not quite as good as the other "Monster Tour" offerings but great in it’s own way.

355 ml bottle from a trade with Degarth. pours a hazy orange with a small off white head. aromas are huge hops over bready malts with some alcohol. flavours are huge hops with a lovely pilsnerish malt structure. this is an amazing beer that shows more barley wine and IIPA characteristics then euro strong lager but given the intention of this brew id expect nothing else. very good brew, one of my favs!

I don’t know how I forgot to rate this beer!!! Hazy golden color. Foamy white head. spicy malt aroma. Lots of malt balanced with the right amount of HOPS. Nice bitter floral finish. PERFECT SUMMER SPECIAL!

Pale and clear. Just a touch darker than an ordinary pilsner. Huge white head, a mixture of fine and big bubbles, slowly fades down the glass leaving a sticky lacing. Hoppy, pleasing aroma. Spicey, earthy, with a touch of citrus. Full bodied, but surprisingly smooth. I almost wish it was a little more bitter. This beer just slid down my throat.

I was pleasantly surprised with this. Malty, semi sweet with hints of pear and apple, some spice and vanilla. Crist and smooth, very good.

I don’t think pilseners get enough respect, and I think the word Imperial pisses many people off. In spite of these facts of life, this one was a welcome entity in the box goldtwins sent me. The pour was hazy deep golden, with a 1-finger off-white head. The aroma was tropical fruity, with some hops, pale malts, canteloupe, tangerine. The flavor was pale malty, with a strong hop presence, some fruity apricot, and some honey. Terrapin is a very solid brewer that never lets me down.

Bottle. Poured a clear golden color with a thick white head. Nice lacing. Aroma is sweet and fruity. Really nice mouthfeel. Flavor is really sweet, with an almost cider-like taste to it. Alcohol present in the aftertaste. I’m usually not a fan of these imperial pilseners, but this one is pretty nice. Thanks to TheBeerCellar for this one.

On tap at Twains, though I’ve had it several other places/times. What bugs me most about this beer is not getting it in bottles! It’s about on line with the style, in that it’s golden, lightly carbonated, with a malty, sweet taste complemented by spicy bitterness in the first swallow, mellowing out to more floral and gentle in the end. A good benchmark for an emerging style.
