This mammoth imperial red ale leads with a tantalizing hop aroma that is quickly complemented by an enormous malt backbone. Finishing with a multitude of hoppy goodness, this “Monster Beer” is truly not for the faint at heart.

This beer was right up my alley, loved the complexity of hops and malts. This beer came together for me. The appearance is a medium brown color, reminded me of Medium Amber Grade A Vermont Maple Syrup. The aroma was surprisingly mild and sweet. The flavor of hops was knock you off your bar stole in the first few sips, once your tongue is numb other flavors begin to peak through such as a nutty flavor. The palate of this beer was very smooth. I would definitely have more than one.

12 oz bottle. Floral hop nose with caramel and some dark fruit notes. Clear dark copper/amber with small off-white head. Nice balance of floral hop flavor and malty sweetness with a little bit of fruitiness. Bitterness is hefty but balanced. Medium body and mouthfeel. Finish is sweet but dries quickly with bitterness.

Bottle, from total wine. Pours an amber color. Aroma hits with caramel malt and some serious hop notes flood the nose. Flavor has some resin, citrus and floral hops while a big malt backbone keep this one from being a big hop bomb.

Thanks to alexsdad06 for this extra! Pours a murky amber-brown color with a medium off-white head that fades quickly. Aroma is caramel malt, sugar sweetness, and a mix of floral and citrus hops that almost form a perfume-like aroma. Taste is heavily malt driven, candied sugar, and some resinous hops. This seems more like an ASA or something.

Bottle thanks to SpringsLicker. Poured ruby red with little tan head. Aroma of malt and hop. Taste was caramel malt, hops and more malt. Finished with a nice IIPA taste that stuck around for a while. Not a bad IIPA.

12 oz. bottle - poured a ruby color with nice frothy head. Aroma - huge hop and syrupy caramel nose!! My mouth was getting excited. Flavor - Syrupy caramel malt with nice balance of hops. Alot more malt with this DIPA and alcohol is displayed nicely. Palate - medium mouthfeel with above average carbonation. Finish is bitter a fairly long. Overall - My first beer from Terrapin and liked very much. Really good beer and would like another but I only purchased one in a sample 6 pac.

Thanks to beerlando for the bottle!
Very red beer, small beige head that’s gone pretty quickly. Nose is rather unique with lively hops, initially very dusty, earthy wood, almost cinnamon, some sweeter fruit. Very cohesive too, nice blend. Flavor is similarly unique with sweet citrus and PtE-like bitterness shooting in and out of the flavor. The highlight is the balance though, which is uncanny given the style. Very light on its feet, never sticky or syrupy or salty. Very drinkable IIPA, and unique at that. Great stuff.

Bottle acquired via trade with dchmela...Dave, you ROCK!!! This one poured molten lava with a fluffy eggshell head that left significant lacing on the inside of the glass. Aroma is a beautiful balance of spicy, biting hops and caramelly, sweet malt. Flavor is definitely hop-forward; ripened citrus, lemon zest, and freshly trimmed ponderosa pine accompanied by toffee, brown sugar, and maple syrup. Yummy...wish I had this readily available!!!
