Commercial Description:
This mammoth imperial red ale leads with a tantalizing hop aroma that is quickly complemented by an enormous malt backbone. Finishing with a multitude of hoppy goodness, this “Monster Beer” is truly not for the faint at heart.

POured a reddish amber color with an off white head. Aroma was thick and malty with a strong scent of floral hops. Flavor was a bit unbalanced, malt and hop upfront and then a bland metalic finish. Not bad but not as good as i would have hoped.

Thanks to Butters for this one! Medium amber towards almost dark garnet. Big malty aroma is quite complex, very rich caramel, toast, slight roast and very faint chocolate, all over top of some big piney hops. Faint alcohol as well. Flavor pretty much matched up with the nose. Just a touch of astringency present, probably from the malts. But really nice stuff overall.

Received via trade with Beerlando. Poured a nice dark amber color with almost no carbonation. Extremely hoppy and citrusy aroma with a little noticeable alcohol. Some hop flavor, but not as much as I expected. Slick mouthfeel, and malty aftertaste that finished very nicely. Hope they expand distribution on this one.

12oz bottle from Willow Bend Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a dark brown color with a pillowy off-white head with good retention that laced the glass throughout the pour. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of ripe fruit, caramel and molasses. Flavor is a nice balance between malt and hops with the subtle bitterness coming through. Other flavors include some brown sugar, caramel, maybe hints of pine. Generally medium body with slight phenol notes on finish.

Both the smell and taste are very hoppy with both pine and citrus. Taste is slightly malty, but the hops are the overpowering flavor. Very good hoppy ale, but could use a little more malt character.

Yerm, what a beer. Had to dock it a little bit because it actually tasted like there was much more alcohol in there than even 8%. The alcohol was really that strong. Hoppy as hell, this is a slow drinkin’ brew for a cold night, which it was when I drank it. It like this cowboy’s fire in a meaningful way.

Pours deep ruby red with light tan head. Aromas of grapefruit and toasted malts. Slightly sweet caramel malt flavor with some grapefruit hop bitterness and alcohol. Medium body with average carbonation. The malt profile definately dominated the falvors and the alcohol taste was a bit too much, but overall it was a decent brew.

Thanks Turdferguson. This might have been mis-labeled because it fits the description of the Big Sloppy Monster much better. Pours a dark copper color with a light tan head that becomes a thick ring and a thin layer. Aroma is caramel with wood and bourbon. No hops noticed. Flavor is similar to the aroma with vanilla, charcoal. Malt, caramel, whiskey, and wood dominate. Again, there is little hop presence. It is somewhat effervescent in the mouth with some spice effects. Alcohol provides some warming. Finish brings more smoke and wood. This is an excellent beer despite what label is on the bottle.
