I couldnt detect hardly any hop and there is no hop bite present, but it does go down quite smooth and tasty fora higher abv. I typically like to have more hops in my dipas for sure, but good stuff anyway. the turtle driving the hot rod is good times! Juelze (902), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 19, 2007 Trade from Ross, thanks! Pours a deep red color. Aroma is of caramel, light nose of dark fruit, some light floral hops. The hops aren’t prevalent as you would expect with most IIPAs. Taste is reminescent of a american strong ale. Still, with taste of caramel malt, fruit, toffee and hops. Pretty damn smooth and highly drinkable. I imagine this would have been hoppier fresh. hoppymeal (38), Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 13, 2007 Pours brown to dark ruby red with a good size tan head. Smell is predominantly caramel malt sweetness with a little piney hop smell in the background, sweet floral aroma also. Taste is also fairly sweet with the hops creating a mildly bitter finish. Medium body. I could feel the alcohol doing it’s job, but there was no discernible alcohol in the taste. The beer was overall very drinkable for me, although I definitely didn’t think of it as a hop monster. Instead it was quite balanced, leaning a bit more to the malty side. This could be due to the fact that this is a 2005. Doesn’t say exactly when in 05, but maybe the hops have mellowed if it was the earlier part of the year. This didn’t detract from the beer’s quality for me however, just different then my expectations from the label.

Pours a hazy amber with a small light tan head that fades to a ring and leaves good lacing. Aroma is loaded with sweet caramel malt and tons of citrus, floral, and pine hops. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium full mouthfeel that finishes slightly sweet with a perfectly balanced bitterness. Another wonderfull beer from Terrapin. gottalottaibu (243), charlotte, North Carolina, USA
