| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 1, 2007 This is a very good beer that is a unique interpretation if an IIPA. The aroma is sweet and toasty with just as malt rich malt aromas as there is hop aromas. The hops are grassy and herbal. The appearance is mahogany with a small head. The flavor has the taste of molasses, toasted malt, and pronounced hops. The palate is a little thin but overall it’s good. PhillyBeer2112 (2087), Orange Park, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 26, 2007 2006 bottle. Well this is weird! Not even in the ballpark of double IPA, not even an IPA, but nevertheless a really nice experience. Deep ruby red color with a medium tan head. Big bocky aroma: melanoidin, toffee and that grape hard candy component I get in alot of doppelbocks. There’s also a distinct earthiness and a touch of citric hop. The aroma is somewhere between a doppelbock and a scotch ale. Flavor is deep and darkly malty, melanoidiny sweet. There’s a touch of resiny hop but its effectively masked by the tidal wave of caramelized sugars. Balanced finish. Clean. Fullish mouthfeel. If I rated to style, this would suffer tremendously, but instead I love malt! AR (426), Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 26, 2007 This is a relatively dark beer with a strong but mixed flavor. A balance of hops and malts - strong on both. A smooth beer with a dark fruit flavoring. luiss (89), Elmsford, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 22, 2007 First off I thought this was an I.p.a. In any case, its a good red ale. Malty with a dark reedish copper color to it. Thick lacing, and a nice dry hop flavor to it. I had this brew a bit too cold. JJClark (545), Roscoe, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 21, 2007 Bottle from trade with TheBeerCellar2 . Pours a reddish amber color with a medium off white head. Aroma of hops and pine. Taste is surprisingly mellow and smooth. Has bit of sweet flavor with notes of caramel with a hint of cocoa. Finishes extremely mild without the hop bite. Sickboy282 (1098), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 21, 2007 Pours a cloudy deep brown/amber hue with a light slight off-white head with decent lacing. Aromas of caramel, a light spice, a hint of wheat, and a little more caramel and toffee. Mouthfeel is mediunm to full bodied with flavors of an imperial red ale, not really a double ipa. The flavors include citrus, a hint of pine, but mainly flavors of the oats, maple and some more woodsy notes. Honey, caramel and a pleasant sweetness. redlight (1469), Winter Park, Florida, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 17, 2007 Thick malts, honey, but very balanced with lots of hops, citrus, spicy all in the aroma. Pours dark red with a white head that doesn’t last. Rich malts, honey and molasses, with loads of hops, northwestern citrus hops. Not for the feint at heart is right. I feel like its missing something though?
