| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 31, 2006 there is an aroma here i’m not to familiar with. i liken it to a strong, but well rounded and full hoppy blended with a bit of alcohol on the nose - a nice complexity indeed. i do want to throw out a disclaimer that i fear sunstrike for this precious beer. i’m leaning towards a re-rate. flavor-wise, it’s a red ale with hoppier notes. it’s bittersweet, additionally grapefruit and lemony earth dominate the palate with a finish that i can only classify as beyond average for an ipa. luckily, there is a spicy element on the finish that lingers on the palate. it’s good, but i’m honestly looking forward to the coffee oatmeal stout in a couple of weeks. further, as far as ipa’s go, i lean towards left hand and he’brew(s) moreso than terrapin. personally, i dig the monster beer tour...keep ’em comin’ chriso (4796), London, Greater London, England
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 29, 2006 Bottle, at Kookfest, September 2006. Orangey colour. Big hoppy aroma. Big hoppy aroma. Big hoppy flavour. No surprises there. What is surprising is the rather sugary sweetness. And it finishes up a bit astringent. The hops are more aggressive than assertive. I’m not usually shy of big US hop monsters but this one didn’t quite hit the mark for me.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 28, 2006 The pour is a dense, dark blood red with an off-white head. Aromas of malt, rye and hops are detected easily. Full palate leads to a great hop and malt combination. Lots of rye type qualities to the flavor. Very good brew. decaturstevo (2002), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 23, 2006 A deep amber pour with an aroma of hops and malt. A guey lasting lacing. A flavor that is very well balanced between the malt and hops, until the hops bitter takes off and kicks your ass. A very hoppy monster with a hint of the 8.3 coming through. The palate is almost perfect with just a teeny bit thin. A very good beer. I could almost have been convinced that it was a BW. HooperX (13), Decatur, Georgia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 21, 2006 Pours an excellent deep red that just drinks up the lights. Big foamy cream-colored head. Smells STRONG. Hoppy. Tastes bitter, with a slight burn to it. Feels really good in the mouth; not too thick, not too watery, but a pretty fantastic consistency. Leaves a little film in the mouth, with a slight aftertaste, which is kind of unsettling, but entirely acceptable.
This is a damn good beer, y’all. spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 14, 2006 Dark Brown/Orange Coloring with White Skin. Definitly a Bite O’ Hops. Big Unavoidable and Concentrated Wet Hope Aroma and Flavor. Like Drinking a Hop Slushy....Had it Been Too Dry, it Would be Hard to Drink Alot, but This Brew You Can Drink, and Enjoy the Hop Profile From Start to Finish.
