Aroma is nice malt sweetness with tons of hops. I am also smelling some spices as well. Taste is pleasently hoppy with a nice well balanced malt flavor. Very drinkable and enjoyable. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 7, 2009 On draught at Redlight Redlight (Orlando, FL): Pours clear, dark copper. Nose is of intense, grassy hops, citrus and alcohol. Extremely bitter hop notes in a full bodied, alcoholic mouthfeel. Drinkability: A pleasing crystal-malt character unfortunately does not outweigh the unacceptable alcohol presence. Rebuy: Haha, yep. #189 on 07112009, DG. Elwood (677), Leesburg, Virginia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 6, 2009 Serving: 12 oz. bottle.
Appearance: Deep amber color with a small, creamy, light tan head. Decent head retention. Sheets of lacing left on the glass.
Aroma: Hop forward with notes of pine and a bit of citrus. Caramel, a bit of mocha, and spice in there too. Very nice.
Flavor: As I would expect, lots of hops up front with pine, citrus, and some earth notes. Then you get the malt with caramel, some breadiness, and spice. Tasty stuff.
Palate: Medium-low carbonation with with a medium-rich mouthfeel and a long, hoppy finish.
Overall: This one really had good balance and the flavor profile was something to set it apart from other DIPAs. Recommended. EricE (467), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
