Thin, dense, light beige head of fine bubbles. Lingers for a while. Minimal carbonation. Big malty sweet aroma with plenty of hops. Althought he hops do dissipate as the brew warms. Some caramel and raisin bagels? Color is a dark mahagony red. Big hops presence in the flavor. Sweet and malty. Good balance. Little bit dry and only some bitterness. Sweet malts keep the bitterness in check. Full bodied. A little syrupy but silky smooth on the palate. Noticable alcohol presence. Finish is hoppy with a little lingering bitterness. A very good IIPA. Thanks to robertsrealty for this one.

This beer I love. Its so damn easy to drink. Pours out a beautiful amber red with small white puffy head. Nose is huge hop with a nice maltiness to simmer it down a bit. Flavor is just pure great hoppy IPA goodness. And as stated it goes down easy. I can drink this by the case load. Which I hopefully can do soon as I have a 2 case blockbuster trade in progress.

12oz bottle courtesy of CaptainCougar. pours a deep red-amber with a small off-white head that dissipates oh so quickly. smell is candy malts, with a lingering hop aroma. taste is very sharp at first with lots of alcohol and candy malt goodness but then progresses into a juicy malt/hop balance that feels very nice on the palate. after a couple sips, i see what other raters mean by it being a little out of style and a bit too sweet, but overall i think its still a great beer. enjoyable. no doubt a fitting beer for my 100th rating! Thanks again, Tom!

Bottle with a big thanks to the BeerCellar for sending this my way. Deep red color, with a small light tan head that quickly went bye-bye. Piney/citrusy malt aroma with a lot of caramel malts to back it up. Flavor was suprisingly very malty with a nice bit of bitterness on the tail end. To me the hop flavor felt a bit muted, though I’m not sure if this was due to the age on the bottle, or my expectations when a beer is called "Big" & "Hoppy". Either way I thought it was fantastic, and wish I had a fresher version of it.

I got this big boy from Matta. Ruby red with a short lived biege head. Huge piney hop aroma with loads of caramel malt to boot. The flavor is a total 180. All of the cara malts coat the tongue with the slightest tinge of hop flavor and the the bitterness slams home. The palate is full right and mouth filling. The alcohol character is an afterthought. Very nice. I do however think this is more of an American Strong, than an IIPA. Still damn good.

2005 Bottle. Opaque reddish brown color. Thin white head. Big heavy hop aroma. More like a big hoppy barley wine. The hops are huge but they really seem balanced with the massive malt. Body is beautifully smooth and big. I really need more of this beer. 8/4/9/5/18 (4.4)

2007 Bottle. Thanks to Jimbowood for including this in our trade. The color is a deep garnet, with a thin wispy head of off-white. Aroma isn’t as straight hoppy as I remember. The hop aroma is more spicy. The flavor is still quite nice, but not as good as I remember. I think perhaps it’s too cold. As the beer warms, the pleasent flavors I remember are beginning to show through, but it’s just not as impressive as I remember. The 2005 bottles I had (about 6) were consistently awesome. I wonder if my tastes have changed? This is sticky sweet malt and very little hop character to balance it out. Bring back the hops!! 6/4/6/3/15

ive been wanting to try this for quite some time, and i was lucky enough to find some this weekend. dark red colored pour - much darker than any imp ipa ive ever had - small head. smells slightly hoppy and malty. taste is very similar, with a little more malts than usual. easy to drink, but perhaps a little sweet to drink alot of at once. its worth buying wherever you see this to try it. really good.
