| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 14, 2009 That name is no lie! Other imperial reds that I’ve had (read Yulesmith), have just been a sticky sweet mess. This one is remarkably balanced with a lot of hops in the aroma and the flavor. Very tasty. ksurkin (405), Norfolk, Virginia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 10, 2009 Updated: Oct 1, 200912oz bottle from bruisin ales. pours a beautiful dark, cherry wood color, with hints of amber and a thin, white head. aroma is very barley wine like with big caramel malts, figs, citrus hops, dark sugar, and roasted nuts. flavor is very nice with big, roasted, caramel malts, some chocolate, brown sugar, and big, piney, earthy, and mild citrus hops. palate is slightly thick, chewy, and has a delicious lasting bitterness. definitely not a hop bomb, more like and american strong, but certainly a big beer deserving of it’s name. UPDATE: fresh bottle, 2009 batch, from grape & gourmet. citrus and tropical fruit hop notes really jump out when this one is fresh but it still maintains that sweet, brown sugar, malty backbone. much more enjoyable when fresh. blutt59 (2147), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 8, 2009 A very nice, super hoppy, red ale. Lingering bitterness, probably 85% of what Nugget Nectar accomplishes. A nice beer, but a bit pricey at 10 a 4 pack,

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Mar 29, 2009 Bottle. Pours an amber-brown, small beige head that disapates to a very fine gathering around the edges. Aroma is right away sweet and malty, hops are there, but not overpowering. Flavor is immediately very barleywine like, sweet malt, caramel, hops in the background. Not very bitter, sweetness starts to get on my nerves right before I finished the glass, not sure I could drink more than one at a sitting. machfive55 (231), Columbia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 2, 2009 Poured amber with a two-fingered head, aroma was a rich citrus with piney notes. Flavor was malty, chocolatey, hoppy, very big with lots of complexity. Hops are upfront as is the alcohol but the hops mellow as the beer warms bring out a rich caramelly, chocolatey maltiness. Aroma: Nice citrusy and spicy hops. Appearance was a dark red, that let light through. Flavors of spicy citrusy hops, brown sugar, a little bit of pine. Not too thick not too thin. A really kick ass beer.
