Commercial Description:
This mammoth imperial red ale leads with a tantalizing hop aroma that is quickly complemented by an enormous malt backbone. Finishing with a multitude of hoppy goodness, this “Monster Beer” is truly not for the faint at heart.

Bonus bottle from Jrob_21 thanks! Pours deep red with off white head. Aroma is very caramelly with hints of hops. Flavor is chewy buttery caramel and toffee. Toasty malts and light hop bitterness and flavor. Alcohol is completely hidden with the only hint being the creamy thick body. I love the malts flavor in this but the hops seem really muted and i was a bit dissappointed.

Bottle from ’07, so about a year old. smell of centennial hops hits me first, with a nice malt balance. almost a hint of chocolate. light brown head, alightly roasty as it warms. very smooth, ruby in color. not drying with a nice bitterness. This is one fine beer!

4 pack of 12 ozers from Frugal MacDoogal’s in Nashville. Poured a clear ruby red color with a thick sparse off white head. Lacing was moderate. Aroma was of sweet fruit and some citrus. The flavor was rich with caramel and the same fruits that peppered the aroma. Carbonation was moderate to high. Great beer.

Bottle. Pours a rich rub hue with a thick orange head that quickly goes down. The aroma is awesome; very sweet candies and fruits, think those fruitcakes that appear around Christmas. The taste is also very nice; a rich and sweet body, caramel, plum, candied oranges and cherry, some chocolate, a citrus hop and a light bitter finish. Very nice.

2007 bottle thanks to ucusty. Not really a DIPA; ASA like Port’s Shark Attack. Pours with a light brown, foamy head covering a hazed deep red body. Great lacing. Aroma of molasses, brown sugar, caramel, plum, raspberry, and citrus hops. Taste is nice and sweet with strong malts and fruits. Taste takes a back seat. Syrupy mouthfeel with nice bubbles. This is a great beer that I would drink all the time if it was available in Dallas!

Taste: 7/8 Bottle (2007) Looks: Black Cherry, thin head. Smells: nice caramel/cherry malt and straw nose. Light crisp spice from the hops. Taste: Crisp and spicy with a nice finish. Quite drinkable for the abv. Medium bodied. Good sour/yeast character with a nice straw/grain. Hops comes across spicy, not citrus and floral. Quite good.
