juiceisloose (295), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 19, 2008 Pours a light brown color with a a small, foamy beige head. The aroma is of piney and citrus hops on top of a toasty, caramel malt base. The flavor follows suit with the citrus hops bitterness up front balanced out by the sweet and toasty caramel malt on the back end. Medium bodied and easy drinking with a slight bitter finish. This one has a nice sweet flavor with just the right amount of bitterness. I think it could be considered a hoppy, brown ale, but it was still really nice and enjoyable. BMan1113VR (762), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California, USA Aug 17, 2008 An extra from ucusty. Pours with a large, rocky light brown head and a hazy chestnut brown body. Aroma of citrus hops competeing with chocolate malts. Odd combo. There is some cinnamon too. Taste doesn’t work out as well as the aroma. Citrus and chocolate clash a bit too much for me and it ends up tasting a bit metallic too. More of a brown ale than an IPA in my oppinion. A bit fizzy, but with a thickish mouthfeel. A good autumn beer that I would love on a Saturday college game when it is a bit nippy out (sweatshirt weather). ross (1511), charlotte, North Carolina, USA Aug 13, 2008 Bottle. I figured this was a brown ale when I bought it, and what a shock it was when I drank some of it and I could taste hops. Brown colored with a tan head on it, lots of lacing, to the end of the glass. Smell is roasted and full bodied, malty, some grass and hops with a little bit of citrus. Taste is rich and chocolatey with a nice hop presence. Heavy beer actually, perhaps too much to consider this a session, but for what it is - a unique IPA - it does it very well. Good stuff from Terrapin here. Taverner (432), San Ramon, California, USA Aug 12, 2008 12 oz bottle thanks to cpferris. Pretty damn good. Nose is full of floral hops, with a touch of the chocolate malts in the background. It’s malty, but dry - hoppy, yet not overkill. Pours brown with biscuit head. Notes of nuts, chocolate, sesame and grassy, floral, bitter hops. After it warms it almost takes on a woody flavor, as if it’s been aged in oak barrels. hombrepalo (446), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 11, 2008 12 oz bottle thanks to OldStyleCubFan. It is either a malty IPA or a hoppy Brown Ale. Either way it is an interesting marriage. Poured a dark brown nutty color with nice head and lace. Aroma of caramel, roasted nuts, some floral hops and some sweet biscuits. Taste is medium bodied with more citrus taste than in the aroma. Finish is tart bitterness with a slight caramel aftertatse. Interesting beer, glad to have tried it thanks OSCF.
