Commercial Description:
"India Style Brown Ale - 6% ABV. A head on collision of a hoppy, west coast IPA and a complex, malty brown ale...basically an IPA with a roasty backbone.”

After finishing off a rather strong IPA, this beer brought the malt tenderness that I was seeking with the exceptional hop bite to keep my guard up. Pours like coffee, with a small, slightly tan head. A nice malt backdrop with tones of caramel and a well balanced hop aftertaste makes this a true Indian Brown Ale.

Interesting brew. Very hoppy aroma which made it hard to distinguish more subtle notes. Taste of more grassy, sweets, and nuts. Interesting.

On draft at ACBF09. Pours brown with a tan head. Aroma of smoke and roasted malt. Flavor of smoke/roast initially with bitter hops in the finish. Nice and interesting black IPA. 8/4/7/4/14 (3.7/5)

Orange Park, Fl. - Broudy’s Liquors - 12 oz bottle. Pours a murky dark orange with a thick creamy off-white head. Strong aroma with some spruce notes and a lot of chocolate. Flavor leans more towards a heavy brown ale than an IPA in my opinion. Lots of chocolate, caramel, and a lot of nuttiness. Back end has some grapefruit citrus hoppiness. Decently thick mouthfeel.

Bottle pours clear dark brown with off white head. Aroma is sublte pine with brown sugar and nutty notes. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor is what you would expect. The hops clash with the brown ale and neither stands out. Slight pine, followed by mostly brown sugar, almond, and a sweet caramel finish makes this exactly what I was expecting.

12 oz bottle courtesy of a GAManiac trade. Thanks, Grant! Pours a rusty reddish brown, moderate tannish head that is bubbly, dies to a small layer, laces pretty well, light haze. Aromas are some nice toasty malts, brown sugar, nuttiness, caramel, and some floral hoppiness to balance. A touch of creamy sweetness. Initial is medium bodied, throwing some toasty, caramel, biscuit and toffee, light vanilla, nut, and moving into floral hoppiness, light citrus on the backend. This beer shows some more lingering hops on the aftertaste, as a touch of pine and resin sticks to the back of the mouth. Still, the malt largely steals the show and the hops are more of a creeping flavor. Citrus comes on stronger as I drink the brew. Not bad though. Would love to try a little fresher. Cheers.

12 oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown/red color but is quite clear when held up to the light, with a large beige head. The aroma is a somewhat odd mix of rich malts and lots of hops. The flavor was dominated by the citrus and bitter hop profile, lots of brown ale in there though, some biscuit and molasses. Toasted malts. Kind of like a dark IPA I guess. Not bad, and quite enjoyable. Though, in general I’d have to say that traditional brown ales and IPAs are more my thing. Interesting.

Thanks Emacgee. Reddish-brown pour with a tan head. Hoppy aroma comes out at you. Not overbearing, just a signal to start drinking. You taste the hop flavor first, then you get the malt taste. The hop flavor lingers in your mouth. It leaves a nice lacing on the glass. A very good beer that I wish I had more of. How far of a drive to Athens???
