Nose is orange and grapefruit with a bit of cocoa. Medium light, kind of fizzy. Taste is grapefruit and lemon candy with bitter coffee. Not the most harmonious blending of styles but still worth a try. GodOfThunder (886), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 12, 2008 On tap at Relight. Pours brown with a thick foam tan head. Smell is mostly fresh pine with a little brown sugar and biscuit. Taste is strong on the bitter hops with lots of grapefruit. The brown part really did not have much taste due to the overpowering hops. Still very good, though. GeneralGao (3076), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 8, 2008 12oz bottle from nearbeer. Got this one in our first trade. Just getting to it now. Served at cellar temperature. Poured a clear ruddy brown color. The head was tan with an orange tint. Fruit dominated aroma that included the likes of pineapple and orange. When sniffed directly from the bottle I got mostly malt, namely toffee and burnt caramel. Light to medium bodied and delicately sweet with mild hop bitterness. Tasted mostly of sharp citrusy hops and a bit of roast. I also noticed a bit of mango. Thinner than I had expected, but nice. An easy drinker. BustedFlat (554), Edina, Minnesota, USA

Dark brown in appearance. Malty aroma. Malt and caramel are noticeable, but some hoppy bitterness is present as well along with hints of citrus and grapefruit. puggy211 (600), cordova, Tennessee, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 28, 2008 Pours brown with a moderate head. Aroma is IIPA-like, strongly hopped with a strong malt backbone. Flavor is similar. There are bits of grapefruit and pine in the hops, and lots of caramel and some grain in the malt. Despite being billed (and described by others) as a highly-hopped brown ale, it really seemed like basically a more-brown IIPA to me. Similar in style to Terrapin’s other fine IIPAs, just with more caramel basically. Pretty good on the whole LinusStick (1855), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Hops with a mix of nutty brown malt. Pour was a nice deep brown with a 1 finger tan head and good bubbles. Taste was very unique. Tasted like a nutty brown ale infused with dry grassy hops. Great carbonation and a bitter mouth biting aftertaste. Nice change of pace and this beer deserves a new style...brown IPA? rcasta (492), El Salvador
