Dark red brown in color - almost looks liek soda. Smell is smoky malt and sweetness with the faintest presence of hops that fades as it warms to leave you with mostly just malt. Flavor is malt and is slightly dusty with a tiny little hop bite to it. At first sip it is uniwue seeming and somewhat refreshing and then is becomes a different beer - fairly boring dusty malt. illinismitty (1799), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 19, 2008 Draft at Boundry in Nashville. Pours dark amber with an off white head. Aroma of fruity esters and hops. Medium bodied. Flavor is surprisingly complex, caramel, dark bread, nuts, and citrus countered by a nice firm bitterness. Much better than expected. This lives up to its description, as it tastes like a hoppy brown ale. PickettsCharge (68), USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 15, 2008 An interesting mix of a traditional brown ale and an IPA. Poured to a reddish-brown with tan head, reminiscent of a brown ale, but the nose was roasted malted nuts and wood, infused with a hint of citrusy hops. Mouthfeel was medium bodied and alternated between slightly sweet and bitter. Taste was mostly the malty flavors, but with a slight aftertaste of citrus. An interesting beer, but for my money, I’d rather have either a brown ale or IPA, not both at once. jrmac (213), USA

Touch of hops. Falls a little short on the palate. Good touch of caramel, malt, and hops. Decent beer I guess. Better then a lot out there. tubehead (11), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

It a beautiful malty taste, with notes of rye and caramel. It is pleasantly hoppy but retains the smoothness associated with brown ale. I very much like the hybrid of styles - brown ale and IPA - unique, in a nice way. Try this one. dkachur (2407), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

The aroma is rather weak, but does show notes of brown sugar and citrus hops. Taste is bitter hops with a toffee-like maltiness. Some caramel and rye notes in the finish. Medium bodied. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 2, 2008 Nice mahogany pour with some tan head. Aroma is malty. Hops come in the flavor. Rye bitter aftertaste is not enjoyable for me. I think I just must not care for rye too much. Papsoe (15103), Frederiksberg, Denmark
