Terrapin India Style Brown Ale

Bottle to pint glass. Pours a dark brown with creamy, short-lived head. Aroma is mild with malts dominant. Medium in body. Since Brown Ales are not my favorite, what hop bitterness is present is very welcome. However, I’d really like to see more assertiveness from the hops. That said, this is not a bad beer.

On draft at the Half Moon, Kennett, PA. The pour was orangey brown, nice frothy head that gave really great continuous lacing all the way down. The aroma was roasty with some citrus and pine hops. The flavor was the same, although I was lett wanting more hops. A decent brew, but it could have been pushed harder. Mouthfeel was full bodied.

12oz bottle. I’d passed this by several times because I’m not a big brown fan. Surprised to see it listed as an ipa. dark brown pour with a thin tan head and slight sheets of lacing. smells of citrus pine hops and chocolate malts. as expected the taste comes off somewhere between a brown and an ipa - with roasted malts and brown sugar losing out to the dank hops for dominance. thin palate. fairly quick light bitter finish.

Hoppy, just like an IPA, but still has that nutty brown flavor to it. It’s a very delicious combination. The aroma is roasty and very fulfilling.

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Pours out in a clear dark ruby brown colour with a small off-white head. Clean aroma of caramel, grass and orangey hops with sharp metallic undertones of iron. Medium-bodied with notes of toasted malts, crackers caramel, nuts and earth with sharp undertones of orange-peels, grass and iron. Clean yet rough moutfeel. Hop-bitter finish of grass and resin.

Pours very dark with a patchy thin head. Very floral hop aroma with a tangy spruce note - some cereal. Toasty aromas come out on the taste. Roasted malt flavor on the swallow, followed by a grapefruit and floral aromas. Good interesting brew.

Bottle; pours translucent ruddy-brown with a cream tan head that slowly dissipates into a tight ring. Aroma is wonderful: slightly chocolatey blended with bright hops - slightly spicy, mellifluous, citric, fruity - rounded out with a nutty-rooty flavor accompanied by a berry-ish sweetness. Unfortunately the flavor delivers nothing close to the aroma. It’s bitter, has some chocolatey fruitiness, a citric zestiness, mild roast, and a dry finish, but it’s not a great brown ale hoppy or otherwise. The body is light, its overcarbonated, and the hops aren’t balanced with the malt. Too bad because it looked and smelled amazing.

Looks like a glass of coke. Roasty malts and some light hops on the nose but not much in the mouth. Not sure I like the nature of the carbonation either. Pretty tasty but standard and a little boring really.
