12oz. Bottle. Rich dark mahogany color with very little head. Huge floral hop aroma that I wasn’t expecting with notes of grapefruit and pine and some background hints of chocolate and malt sugar. Complex taste with noticeable tropical hop flavor characteristics and a slightly roasted grain flavor in the background. Also has notes of toasted, biscuit and chocolate malts with an underlying spicy bitterness. Body is on the thin side with a medium level of carbonation, but I think it suits the IPA character of this beer well. Goes out with a dry and acidic bitter kick. Definitely leans toward the IPA side. I’m a big fan of this one, a very solid session beer.

Dec 3, 2009 Bottle; pours translucent ruddy-brown with a cream tan head that slowly dissipates into a tight ring. Aroma is wonderful: slightly chocolatey blended with bright hops - slightly spicy, mellifluous, citric, fruity - rounded out with a nutty-rooty flavor accompanied by a berry-ish sweetness. Unfortunately the flavor delivers nothing close to the aroma. It’s bitter, has some chocolatey fruitiness, a citric zestiness, mild roast, and a dry finish, but it’s not a great brown ale hoppy or otherwise. The body is light, its overcarbonated, and the hops aren’t balanced with the malt. Too bad because it looked and smelled amazing.

Dec 3, 2009 Looks like a glass of coke. Roasty malts and some light hops on the nose but not much in the mouth. Not sure I like the nature of the carbonation either. Pretty tasty but standard and a little boring really.

Dec 2, 2009 2009 Bottle - Thanks brentfeesh! - Pours a slick dark brown with a small tan head...aroma is floral mixed with some of that oily noble hop character, sweet brown sugar malt and grass...flavour is similar, oily hop, roasted grain with a little smoke, dry toasted malt...finish is pretty solid, pine and roast...tasty...

Nov 27, 2009 Bottle from Utobeer. After a particularly difficult call with Virgin Media’s call centre (which is the worst in the world), I needed something to calm my nerves. This is very dark brown with a big beige head. Good American resiny hops on aroma. Some dry malt on aroma too. It’s ok in the mouth, but maybe just a bit watery. Bit of earthyness. It’s a half decent beer. Not too keen on the dry malt and resin hop finish. Not quite a brown ale, not quite an IPA. Odd beer, I like the hops, but just not on this beer.

Nov 25, 2009 12oz bottle into a pint glass. The pour is brown with a small off-white head, but a whole buncha red when held to the light. The aroma is extremely sour like grapefruits, but with a backing of chocolate and nuts. The flavor is bitter malts up front with a hint of chocolate and nut followed by a roasty dryness due in part to the malt and the hops. Decent stuff.

Nov 23, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a brown color with a medium sized tan head that dissipated quickly. It has the aroma of citrus smelling hops and chocolate smelling malt. It has a strong grapefruit hop taste with a coffee, toffee and pine taste. This is a wonderfully balanced beer with neither the hop or malt taste being overpowering. This beer is very refreshing and easy to drink. I really liked this beer.

Nov 22, 2009 Pours brown with ruby hints. Slightly off white head good lacing. Aroma of hops dominates. Flavor of malts, nuts and coffee with underlying hop bitterness. Odd combination. Not sure how much I like this one.

Nov 20, 2009 Pours cola brown. Nose is sweet grapefruit, big citrus hops. Pretty IPA-ish. Flavor is roasted malt, cocoa, hints of coffee and loads of citrus hop flavor. Pretty nice.
