Head is initially small, frothy, brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark brown to black.
Aroma is moderately to heavily malty (coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, roasted grain, dark chocolate).
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Light to medium body, watery/oily texture, lively/soft carbonation.
It’s a one-trick pony, to be sure, but the coffee character is admittedly very nice. And very strong...I’ve not had many coffee beers where the coffee note is so prominent...it’s almost stronger than a freshly brewed cup of coffee. It doesn’t do much in the mouth, though...rather light bodied, watery, and not especially flavorful. It’s a pretty good beer, but relies almost entirely on the coffee aroma. If they improved the malt richness and mouthfeel, they’d have a killer beer on their hands.

| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 19/20 | Nov 29, 2009 On draught at Funky Buddha (Boca Raton, FL): Pours black with a soft, pillowy, tan head. With a full on coffee assault to the nose, you can actually smell each individual grain that make up a coffee bean. There’s an outstanding balance between the chocolate/coffee/vanilla/hazelnut flavors and the stout itself. It’s sweetness does not overstate the true chrarcter what of a stout should taste like (which is what I found to be the problem with Bell’s Java Stout). Drinkability: Enjoyably sweet and satisfying. Rebuy: Definitely. #228 on 29112009, DG. luv2brew (179), Chesterfield, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 28, 2009 I actually thought this one was a little thin. Nose is rich dark chocolate with the power of a dark brewed coffee. The coffee is there in this one, probably more than any coffee stout i have ever tried. Its good, but not as sweet as many others, I thought it could have a little more body, but overall a good brew Beerlando (2319), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 26, 2009 Bomber. Pours a deep and dark mahogany color with a small, smooth head of mocha colored foam. Wet spots and flares of lacing dot the glass. The nose is loaded with rich, fresh, roasty espresso, complemented with heaps of bittersweet chocolate, toasted nuts, and some creamy lactose. Flavors are again massively roasted, brimming with coffee, mocha, and dark baker’s chocolate. Burnt caramel comes through a bit, lending some sweetness, while bitter, earthy hops provide the counterpoint. The palate is medium-plus in body, smooth, and surprisingly drying. The coffee roast lingers well after the finish. Very nice sweet stout here. CaptainCougar (5454), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 26, 2009 Pours an opaque black with dark mahogany edges and a thin, creamy beige head. Aroma of sweet milk sugar and roasty coffee with some dark chocolate. Starts with pretty good fullness (once it warms some) with a chewy doughy milk chocolate flavor before a rich bittersweet mocha finish. Has an authentic lactose sweetness throughout and good coffee balance, but could be a little smoother as the sticky sugary bittersweetness coats the throat. Tmoney99 (4728), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Poured a black color with a large frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted coffee and chocolate aroma. Medium to heavy milk chocolate and roasted coffee flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a standout beer.

Very mild on the tongue with a slight bitterness. Has a medium body. The texture is resiny. Has a good finish, with a tasty aftertaste. grandet (481), Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA
