on draft at Trappeze in Athens. Lots of caramel with subdued hops. evidence of bitterness as it warms, but smooth on palate with hops in the aftertaste. Crazy lacing. Wood flavor balances the perfectly along with the carbonation. Alcohol is also balanced well. Overall, one of the best wood aged beers, as well as one of the best beers, I have had. This pint was truly heaven in a glass. I can honestly say this is the best beer I have had.

Sampled at the 2008 Great American Beer Festival. Amber color with some modest carbonation and a faint light beige head. Mild but spicy hop aroma with some rye noticeable. Nice hoppy flavor with notes of vanilla and subtle oak barrel with faint caramel. Easy finish that makes for good drinkability. Pretty good.

Draft. Yellow amber color. Great aroma. Hoppy and oaky. Lots of melanoidins. A little hard to drink for some reason.

Had this brew at G.A.B.F. 08". Aroma is a bold fresh hop scent. Color is a medium gold with low carbonation and a nice tight head. Starting with a medium body it goes down with a smooth feel. Finish is hoppy with a nice rye malt flavor that has sweet hints of caramel. This is a very good brew.

GABF 2008 poured a hazy amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of oak, orannge, light carmel and light spice. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of rye, oak, carmel, light vanilla and light spice with a smooth malty finish.

GABF 2008. Pours clear tawny with a small, fizzy, white head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, cookie, cereal), average hops (perfume, resin), average yeast (sweat) with notes of sour vanilla and wood. Medium bodied, alcoholic texture, flat carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

Botella. Deep hazy amber colour with a medium nice white good lasting head. Sweet fruity hoppy aroma. Quite good a mouthfeel. The flavour is sweet with a pleasant hoppy bitterness along with some pine and grapefruit. Sweet bitter fruity finish.
