Bright gold with white head, definitely lighter than a traditional pale ale. Really bright grassy and floral/herbal hops in the nose, along with a metallic twinge to the malt. Flavor is nice bitter hops, with a tart, clean malt in the finish. Interesting stuff, and pretty tasty. malrubius (1004), Valley Stream, New York, USA

Malty aroma with mild rye essence. Fruity malty flavor with slight rye spiciness in finish. Medium body and carbonation. A tasty beer and a little bit different. caesar (3034), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 15, 2007 Bottled. Clear golden orange color, short off-white head. Aroma of hop, rye, bit floral, some citrus indeed. Thick body. Caramel malty taste, bitter, rye. Obvious malty character, which makes it totally different from other pale ales. Good flavored beer for only 5.3% alcohol. kmweaver (2483), Sebastopol, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 14, 2007 12oz bottle, courtesy of Schutzenliesel (I think). Thanks, Tom! Pours a murky, orangish-golden color; small off-white head with fine-bubbled lacing. The hops seem like they’ve dropped out of this one, leaving chewy candy sugar and caramel in the aroma; quite pleasant. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: lively burst of citrus and carbonation at the tip of the tongue, giving a solid acidic presence on the perimeter; inside is chewy rye and grain-based maltiness, balancing things out; the hop presence, while tempered, still shows resiny hop oils; well-matched to the malt character, making for a very drinkable and pleasant pale ale with minimal astringency; medium finish, showing rye and some earthy hops, with mild acidity. darn1207 (588), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 14, 2007 floral hoppy aroma with some citrus, followed by some rye that builds as the hop aromas dissipate. Flavor is assertively hoppy, but quickly giving way to an unusual grainy flavor; slightly sweet, moderately acidic, quite refreshing and pleasant. Overall, this is a very interesting brew and equal to or greater than the sum of its parts. skortila (2913), Bunnik, Netherlands

Clear, golden-copper coloured with a medium, offwhite head. Taste is bitter with some sweetness. Flowery hops there and the beer has a rye-malty background. Nice beer. pojo41 (315), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 12, 2007 Bottle and draft. Kind of coppery color with an off-white head which leaves a nice lacing. Wonderful hoppy aroma. Flavor of rye malt with the hops dominant but, not overwhelming. Very, very drinkable. An excellent beer. biggmike (480), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 8, 2007 Updated: Nov 29, 2007Had this on draught at the Emerald Coast Brew Fest in Pensacola, FL. Also had in bottle. Pours an attractive orangey-copper color. Hop aroma is evident as soon as you pop the top from the bottle. The rye is evident in the aroma as well. Taste has a very prevalent hop character up front that tranforms into a malty finish that balances well. Good mouthfeel, drinkability is high. I loved this one.
