The ale had a frothy head and amber color with a nose of grapefruit. The hops were just enough to be a pale ale. They say the rye malt helps to dull the bitterness of the aftertaste. I do not think I have had rye malt before to support this. hershiser2 (914), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Aug 22, 2009 Light golden pour with a crown of white foam, nice carbonation and lacing.
Smells of earthy hops and corn?
Tastes pretty much like that but seems very watery.
Mouthfeel is medium as is carbonation level.
Can’t say it isn’t easy to drink and would be a hell of a session beer, maybe even a good intro to craft beers, but I don’t see myself revisiting this one. holdenn (1443), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 15, 2009 12 oz bottle after a long day of fishing. Pours an orange amber with a tall beige head. Full strong and inviting nose fruity, lemons, tropical fruit strong caramel and rye malts. The sweetness and bouquet of fruit blend really well with the caramel and rye. The bitter spicy strong rye is done just right in this beer. Bitter spicy citrus finish that’s longer than most IPAs i’ve had recently. Solid beer. ditmier (1102), Boise, Idaho, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 6, 2009 Pours deep golden color. Aroma is spicy rye and citrusy hops. Some Amarillo if I am not mistaken. Taste is a really nice meld of spicy hop bitterness, flavor, and resin with the rye spice and a decent sweet malt backbone. A very great spin on the typical pale ale. Really wish this were available in AZ.
