Tasted next to a Rogue Imperial IPA, a Boulevard Single Wide IPA, and a Blackstone White River IPA. The Rye^2 easily stood our as the best of the bunch. It was also the darkest of the 4 beers. Nice dark yet transparent copper color. Wonderful complex aromas of sweet malt, floral hops, with a rye and other grains as well. Everything comes together well in flavor and the palate as well. This is just a wonderfully constructed, complex beer. Any beer aficionado should give this a shot. TURDFERGUSON (1603), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA

Nose is citrus, pine, caramel, alcohol, light rye character. Flavor is hot. Hops are less prominent, but it’s still lightly bitter yet way to hot. Not a big fan. Bit of light spicy hops and overall a great rye nose. Grainy. Deep orange amber clear with thin off-white lacing head. Medium heavy body with light carbonation. Great rye flavor with a bit of fruity character. Pale malt sweetness with bitter finish and a bit oxidized. Decent but not terrific. Bitter after with light alcohol. redlight (1475), Winter Park, Florida, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 12, 2009 Location: 12 oz bottle from Greens Discount Beverage - Atlanta (Buford Hwy), 5/12/09
Aroma: Caramel, rye, some earthy hops, bit of alcohol
Appearance: Brownish copper color, medium off-white head
Flavor: Starts off a nice sweetness, the aftertaste has a bit more of an alcohol burn
Palate: Lasting and full mouthfeel
Overall Impression:
I wouldn’t necessarily call this an IIPA, not hoppy enough for that, but a good beer. I was not expecting that amount of alcohol burn from an 8.5% beer. LinusStick (1846), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 11, 2009 On tap at Bocktown. A decent beer but a little one dimensional. Aroma was nice. Sweet caramel malt with an earthiness to it, but just a hint of hops. Pour was a nice dark menacing orange with a 3 finger off white head. Taste was very sweet and hot. Strong caramel malt with an almost burnt flavor with hops definately taking the back seat. The only bitterness from the hops is perfectly balanced with the alcohol burn (a lot hotter than 8.5% would suggest). coyotehunter (551), , Michigan, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 11, 2009 bottle thanks to TURDFERGUSON. Pours a dark amber with minimal head. Smells a touch soapy with some pine hints as well as the rye aroma. Heavy flavors of pine grain and some caramel. Finish is smooth and clean with a slight alcohol burn. Good stuff.
