| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 1, 2009 Pours a clear, dark amber. Aroma of resinous hop, spice. Rye, malty taste with bitter hop finish. Kind of sticky. Good full bodied beer. Enjoyed the Oak Aged version better though, wish I was on Rate Beer than, that beer is long gone from my local watering hole. Oh well... jjuf1853 (482), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 1, 2009 I ’ve tried their regular version rye pale ale so I was anxious to try double IPA. Draft, pours a cloudy amber/orange color with an off-white head that leaves some nice lacing along the glass. Aroma is malty and bready (especially rye). The hop presence is quite noticeable in the flavor and leaves a nice bitterness in the finish. The alcohol is not too overpowering. bconley (351), Fern Park, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 27, 2009 Bottle. Has almost an irony flavor to it. Lots of hops obviously, nice tasting malts. Really cool......love the label. Aurelius (2655), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Apr 24, 2009 Sweaty, candied ale aroma. When the bottle dries, it has a little bit of bell pepper to it, actually. Clear, bright, orange-amber without much head. Bad label. Citrus acidity, rye astringency, a light toffee sweetness that turns acidic. A wetting viscosity. Trailing green nuts/grass. Metal on the lips. Interesting at times. I like the idea of rye beer, but it seldom comes off. ABC, Thomasville Road, overpriced. scrizzz (1341), kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 23, 2009 Soft golden, even keel aroma, nothing double or imperial to me. Instantly strong and thick with full bodied rye character and an intense earthy hop finish. Warming throughout, building with that awesome rye. Coltrane (108), South Carolina, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 19, 2009 Sampled super fresh, but still had that aged DIPA sweetness to it, A big disappointment, as I am huge Terrapin fan. Quite smooth in taste and mouthfeel, with a hop bitterness to balance it out. Very little in the floral or citrus department.
At 10 a sixer it would be OK, 10 a four pack and you can do much much better. mcc5468 (103), USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 19, 2009 From a tap at the brewery. Pours a dark amber color. Rich head. Aroma was hoppy with citrus and grass. Taste was also hoppy which was expected. Alchohol was definitey present but not overpowering. Pretty good Imperial. juiceisloose (678), Windermere, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 15, 2009 On draft this pours a dark amber color with a small off white head that leaves some nice sticky lacing behind. The aroma shows hints of caramel and biscuit malts, rye, grains, and some earthy hops. The flavor follows suit with the rye coming through with the caramel and biscuity malts for sweetness. The hops lend a solid bitterness throughout. Medium bodied and pretty easy to drink with a hoppy finish and lingering rye flavors. Very nice beer to have on draft. Had this from the bottle as well and it is much hoppier than on draft and more carbonated as well. Pretty good from the bottle, but I like the draft version better.
