Flavor is extremely hoppy, but somewhat balanced. Still lots of hop oils. Sticky on the palate. Finish is a bit hot. Really good beer, but not a great one, it is just too bitting in the finish. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 30, 2008 12oz Bottles. Aroma gives a subdued house ale yeast glow. Soft in Mandarin orange. Pours a thick orange juice and grenadine with a rim of white. Flavor is surprisingly creamy and dense. Not much real hop bitterness. Unique. There’s a zip of rye spice, some very soft orangesicle cream and a nip of alcohol. Some faint grass and pine add up to complex yet uncharacteristic flavor profile. It’s nice, just not what I expected. Love the malt character. Finishes largely clean. Mostly delicious. Thanks Dave! BelgianBeerGal (1289), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Oct 25, 2008 Bottled. Pours a hazy copper colour with a stable off-white head and some sticky lacing. Big aroma of citrus hops, apples and rye in the finish. Surprisingly creamy and rich mouthfeel. An expertly blended mix of hops and malt where neither overpowers the other. The 8.5 ABV is a little warming in the finish. Very well done. daknole (2937), Plantation, Florida, USA

I can smell a grain...hmmm mabe rye, haha. Flavor is really damn good. Bitter hop punches you some malt shines for an instant then the hops kick your butt again. Very nice. PickettsCharge (68), USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 15, 2008 Bottle. Pours a cloudy copper color with a thick white head, tons of lacing. The aroma is tons of rye and hops. The flavor was just awesome; a rich and bitter hop bite throughout, some bready rye flavors balance it out well. Some honey and citrus too. A semi-sweet rye finish with a touch of banana and malt. Very nice. I am starting to fall in love with Terrapin, this beer kicks ass. jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 25, 2008 Color is amber with a slight haze and a decent sized ivory head. Aroma reminds me of a Barleywine as does the taste. Aroma is of brown sugar, caramel, raisins, malts and a slight hoppiness. Taste is similar with some notes of toast and alcohol warmth. beergod (102), Austin, Texas, USA
