Commercial Description:
Double the malt, double the hops, and double the flavor of the original Rye Pale Ale recipe. (Hence the name Rye Squared.) With its mammoth hop aroma, bitterness and flavor, this beer is not for the faint at heart. The Rye Squared clocks in at a hefty 8.5% ABV so double your pleasure and double your fun because Terrapin went a little crazy with this one! The first keg of Rye Squared went on tap at Tasty World in Athens on Monday April 25th 2005. A special thank you goes out to the newly formed Terrapin Keg Killers. We were told that Tasty World would put the Rye Squared on as soon as they finished off a keg of a "Select" beer they had on tap. When the Terrapin Keg Killers heard about this they went to Tasty world and finished off that other keg in record time. By 10pm on Monday they were enjoying the fruits of their labor when the first ever Rye Squared keg went online. Malt: 2-row pale, Munich, Malted Rye, Bisuit Malt, Honey Malt. Hops: Amarillo, Cascade, East Kent Goldings, Fuggle, Magnum

12 oz. bottle from tjthresh (via pintocb). Pour is clear golden - amber with visible carbonation and a decent sized slightly off-white head. Aroma is fresh piney hops with a bit of a flowery smell. The taste reveals a lot of malt, and that certainly takes the front seat. The hops (piney and resinous) carry the middle through to a nice bitter finish. I got only the slightest whisp of rye in this one. The malt - hop transition was great in this one, though I found the palate was a bit watery.

Tall head that lasts into great lacing and stays with you for the duration. Dark orange with little nose but huge citrus taste. Great and refreshing cold. Smooth lasting finish. Great drink. My thanks to? Badgerben? or Hopscotch or someone else at teh RBSG 2007. A great gift to bring home.

Bottle from john_adam2002. Pours a 1-finger head that dies quickly. Light hops and malt aroma. Red amber color. Flavor has an average unlying sweetness surrounded by an average hoppiness. The finish is a odd lingering mild bitterness, using a hops I cannot distinguish.

Bottle. A amber beer with a white head. The aroma is of caramel malt. piny hops, plesant, the taste is also of caramel malt and piny hops, with some rye bread over it, quit nise. Medium to full body with a sweet dry finish.

Bottle from TurdFerguson - thanks! Reddish-amber pour with a medium head. Aroma is thick with juicy floral-citrus hops and a hefty dose of rye and caramel. Flavor is a sticky mix of rye, earthy-citrus-sweet hops, honey, sticky buns, and caramel. Nice, but falls short of some better rye brews (Two Bros Cane & Abel, Triumph Jewish Rye, Founders Reds Rye). Still a well crafted rye-hop monster!

Thanks Aracauna. Pours amber with badically no head and what minimal head there is actually stays. Aroma of sweet malts. Taste is the same very sweet caramel malts, butterscotch, and just more caramel sweetness. Slight citrus hops but the sweetness really overides this beer, bigtime, very cloying and barley-wine like. Where are the hops, seriously I would think this is a barley-wine. Really the sweetness killed it for me.

amber color with a medium white head. Great aroma of some pretty strong citrus hops. The body is full as well as the flavor. There are some tasty malts in there with some nice hops, again mostly citrus
