| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 20, 2006 Bottle, (thanks to goldtwins) poured a hazy pale amber with a thick white head. Rich aromas of caramel and citrusy hops. Very sweet flavor, caramel and toffee with a good hop balance. I don’t really taste the rye, it gets put on the back burner due to the sweetness of the malts. Nice mouthfeel, it really coats the mouth. Good beer but I would like more hops and more rye, maybe quadrupel it? MrBendo (1044), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 19, 2006 Thanks to unclemattie for the bottle. Poured cloudy amber/orange with medium head. Aroma is very intense caramel and a little spicy hops. Taste is dark fruits, caramel malts and spicy hops. Medium body. Seemed a little heavy on the malts for an IIPA. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 12, 2006 12oz bottle via trade with CaptainCougar. Aroma: toffee/caramel, toasted nuts, grapefruit, rye, and a very sweet maltiness. Appearance: Deep orange in color and very hazy. Off-white head was full and creamy but didn’t last long. Fair lacing. Flavor: Sweet malt with strong caramel and toasted nuts. Spicy rye, floral, pine, and citrus. Alcohol is noticeable but never intrusive. Bitterness is subtle, but does its job well. Very well balanced. Palate: Medium-full bodied and creamy. Medium carbonation. Light alcohol warmth in back of mouth. Overall: What a great beer. Wish I had a case of this. Good from top to bottom, but the mouthfeel really stands out. Rich and creamy and so good. Cmycoskie (23), Georgia, USA

And the name give it all, much like it’s younger brother doubled, or squared. Acually, I was told there would be no math. Brigadier (1246), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA

This came in a recent trade with The_Epeeist. As I slowly work my way through the pile of beers he sent I come across gem after gem. This one was definitely a star. I almost wish there was another bottle. When this comes around next year I will definitely be seeking more.
Aroma / Appearance - Butterscotch, pecans, caramel and rye are the first things to come to mind when examining this nose. You can tell it has Georgia roots. Also along for the ride are sugar, hops and banana nut bread. The body is a cloudy tangerine color with creamy lacing and a solid one-finger head.
Flavor / Palate - The first sip has a caramel nutty feel. After it washes down I picked up pecan pie, peanut butter and chocolate. It felt like a Southern dessert. The creamy mouthfeel then morphs to a combination of rose petals, oak and a trace of spruce. The rye is balanced but does not dominate the rest of the experience. For an imperial IPA it is suprisingly subdued. I could drink this on a regular basis if it were on the shelfs here. jetzler (622), oklahoma city, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 22, 2006 Bottle 49F Snifter, it pours a really crazy form of yellow, yet remains cloudy and slighty dark yellow with a nice lasting head. Good hop aroma very floral and varied, taste is fairly dry but with great hop accents, really nice, palate is medium and hides the alcohol well. I really liked this beer great hops and really brought to mind some great english ales only bigger.
