Commercial Description:
Volume 6: Traditionally, the Scotch call this beer 90 shilling. At Terrapin, we know it as “90 Shelling.” Magnificently malty, this 90 Shelling Scotch Ale pays tribute to the full bodied ales of Scotland.

Beer pours dark brown/amber. A thick foamy head fades eventually. Aroma is caramel, apple, and toasted biscuit. Taste is mild nut and vanilla with sweet fruit and caramel. Body is medium light with a low creamy carbonation.

My Bottom Line:
Toffee-laden bready malts and berry fruitiness ride this Scotch Ale’s peaceful effervescence for a delicate sipping experience.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the dark burgundy.
-This doesn’t have enough body for my tastes in the style.
-Menthol allusions are found in the flavor profile.
-The nose is lightly earthy and perhaps smoky.

Bottle.

Rich malty aroma, nice white head, a littl smoke in the finish. Slightly better than average mouthfeel. On sweet side, but not cloying.

BOMBER. Pours a mahogany body with a tan head. Malty body with some light wooden notes, toffee with some light coco notes. Chewy with a full body and a light warming. Bitter sweet nutty dry finish. Nice.

Bomber. Pours a deep dark amber/brown with a foamy one finger tan head. The nose is light chocolate, roasted nuts, caramel and molasses. The taste is faint smoky peat, toffee, cocoa and nuts. Medium, semi-creamy mouthfeel. Not bad, better than the Hoppin Frog Scotch I just had.

bottle thanks to Cavie, who shared it at the Houston RB Tasting in October. Pours dark brown with small, off-white bubbles in lieu of head. Nose is of smoke and peat. Taste is of smoke, peat and caramel. Mouthfeel is dry.

The appearance is deep brown with an average head. The aroma is both sweet and smokey with the smoke taking a back seat. There is also some hops. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is smooth and full. Overall this is a great beer and one I want to have again.
