Pours mostly black with a short lived creamy beige head. Smell is chocolate and a touch of roasted malt and even some raspberry like light berry scent as well. Taste is of chocolate, and cocoa, not surprisingly, and is lightly bittered and balanced without being sweet, but still finishes very smooth. Body is medium with normal to slightly soft carbonation. Flavorful and chocolatey without being too sweet. A very solid, and drinkable beer all around. lithy (1727), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 25, 2009 Bottle thanks to nearbeer. Brown with a finger of tan head. Big roast aroma with some bitter chocolate bark and mixed berries and fruit. Taste is a solid porter roast body some chocolate and a coffee bitter finish. A really good porter but no more chocolate than an average porter. hopdog (5604), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 25, 2009 2009 Bottle. Aroma of chocolate milk, perhaps? Looks deep dark brown with little head. Tastes of coffee with a light aftertaste of dark chocolate. Very balanced palate with a slightly watery aftertaste. An enjoyable beer, but there are betters out there. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 24, 2009 Pouring a dark mahogany brown, the body is crowned with a small, fleeting, frothy head of mocha colored foam. A soapy wash leaves scattered, wet spotting behind. The aroma is chocolaty as can be, exotic dark cocoa notes proving quite rich, with complementary scents of scorched caramel and lactose. Flavors too are quire chocolaty, dark cocoa again showing strong, with a bit of coffee roastiness, mocha, and mild earthen hops. The body is a little disappointing, feeling rather thin compared to what I was expecting, but it is well balanced and highly drinkable. A little pepper shows on the finish. Good brew. ditmier (1100), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 24, 2009 2008 Bottle - Thanks SpringsLicker! - Pours almost black with a small creme coloured head...aroma is chocotastic, with some roasty malt and a touch of coffee...flavour is similar, and while it is initially shows big chocolate and cofffee, it goes thin fairly quickly with very little residual presence...great to try but nothing crazy... | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 23, 2009 22oz bottle. Pours a dark coffee brown with a 2 finger beige head. Nice nose of chocolate, toffee, and toasted malts. Flavor was mostly cocoa and toasted malts. It was nice to have a Porter without soooo much coffee involved. JK (2961), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
