Dark brown color, tan head. Smell is roasted, coffee, chocolate, some malts, no real hop presence. Taste is watery yet smooth with no alcohol noticed. Thin body, easy to drink, but leaves me asking, why would I buy this instead of another porter? Founders, Fullers, or Bells all smoke this, without a doubt. Bleh. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 2, 2009 Bottle bought in Brendon, Florida. A porter, with significant cocoa presence. Pours dark. A bit of the cocoa in the aroma. Easy mouthfeel, medium consistency. Reasonably drinkable. holdenn (1443), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 2, 2009 Bottle. Pours a brown black with a beige head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, brown sugar and floral hops. Medium body. Citrus tart hops are a little odd against the brown sugar chocolate malts. Decent beer though. jgb9348 (2499), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 28, 2009 Deep brown coloured body with a thinnish fast-dying lighter brown head. Aroma of chocolate (what a surprise), mushrooms, meat, nuts, roasted malt and some pit fruits make for an interesting smell! Medium-bodied; A bit watery up front with chocolate and roasted malt coming through most. Some odd metallic tastes also very strong with a bit of nuts and light caramel figuring into the equation. Aftertaste shows some more malt and nuts, but the sweetness and very light chocolate comes through too. Overall, a good beer - perhaps a bit weak, but I actually like that. Nice and flavourful without being too bitter. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Knightly Spirits in Orlando, Florida on 15-February-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 27-April-2009. I am used to these Terrapin beers being very big and bold, but this was light, watery, almost refreshing. A fairly ordinary porter, but still pretty tasty and drinkable.
