Im just not into the big beers like I used to be. Or maybe these just aren’t being done with enough care. But I know how difficult it is to brew well on a large scale so I won’t whine too much. Like many of Terrapin’s beers, I just found this one to be too sweet. The honey is evident on the nose and in the flavor but overall its a bit sharp and slightly astringent. Okay. A yellow orange beer with a very thin head... Smells of belgian yeast, kinda reminds me of 07.07.07 Epic... Very sweet like a belgian...Very smooth hides the 11% well. I love beer experiments as much as the next guy, but I think this stuf missed its mark. Aromas of budweiser and honey. Faintly Belgian smelling and tasting, like a Golden Ale. Not bad, but not good either. If we didnt try new things we would never learn. Hophead22 (1106), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 10, 2009 22oz bottle courtesy of goryshkewych, and shared with DuffManSW, thanks George. . Glowing orange/yellow color, very little head. Strange aroma for a Wheat wine, must be the honey, smells like a belgian ale. Very sweet, still strange to me for a wheat wine though, still get theat sweet belgian candy sugar flavor, must be the honey. A little alcohol warmth in the back of the throat. redlight (1499), Winter Park, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 1, 2009 Bananas and honey with traces of clove on the nose. Pours golden blonde. I had this fresh but i think it aged beautifully! Fresh i got loads of bananas and citrus from the wheat with spicy clove, aged though the honey is far more pronounced, dry honey mead-like flavors with traces of bananas and clove. Excellent beer. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 26, 2009 22oz from Sam’s, Durham. Fairly light pour, tranlucent pale orange with very little carbonation. The honey in the nose is very pleasant, if a bit one-dimensional. The body is rather thin, even if the honey and sweet malts manage to make the beer a bit cloying. Slight play of hops and faint spice in the body, just managing to convince me that this is actually a wheatwine as opposed to some lesser braggot. But there’s a real redundancy to this beer, with no real character emerging to me. I felt that a blend with a sharp, dry tripel might have been enjoyable. But on its on, I was less than impressed with this one. Gachupines (295), USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 26, 2009 Golden color with a small white head. Aroma is mainly honey. Taste is also mainly honey. It’s very sweet, maybe some malt in the aftertaste. Not much of a hop presence or any bitterness. It isn’t bad, but a little overpoweringly sweet for my taste. aplusbreaks (330), , Colorado, USA
