Commercial Description:
2008 will forever be known in professional brewing circles as the year of the Hop Shortage. Brewers everywhere are scrambling to find hops just to produce their standard line of beers. Some are so nervous they are even cutting back on brewing hoppy beers. NOT US! In typical Terrapin fashion we are going against the grain (or against the hops, so the speak). If there is going to be a shortage of hops, why not put them all into one huge hop bomb of a beer? We hope you enjoy our HOP SHORTAGE ALE.

(1 beer in) Beautiful beer. The first whiff is a light spice intertwined with a slight grape fruit. I wish there was a perfume for girls that smelled this way! Slight bitterness, but doesn’t keep the mouth puckering after the swallow. An easy beer to drink.

Bottle courtesy of CaptainCougar. First whiff real good citrus hop hits the nose. But those aromas fade away over the course of beer. Cooper body with off white head. Flavor was alright citus oranges and dry hop bitterness. But half way though beer it fell off to a mild hop and somewhat watery. Mild sweet oranges and dry resin citrus vine aftertaste left on the palate. Thanks CC.

Bottle from theBeerCellar. Thanks! Amber color with a medium head and great lacing. Aroma of grain and subtle hops. Vegetal and citrusy hop profile in the taste. Not much sweetness. Drinkable, but could be a little better balanced.

Copper. Less (not Little)hops than I expected. My 1st Terrapin. Nice hop smell evaporating off the snowy top. 75 minute IPA? Mild in the malt-may need just a bit more for a little more chew.

Thanks to Ethan for the bottle! Pour is golden, copper with a fluffy white head. Aroma of piney and citrus hops with some malt present. Quite bitter up front with a sweet, malty finish. Smooth and drinkable.

Bottle courtesy of ucusty. Thanks! Golden pour with a lasting head and some decent lacing. Aroma is light but there are notes of floral hops, some pine, and a touch of malt. Hops upfront with notes of floral perfume, pine, pepper, then some nice mild sweetness which moves into a resiny floral and peppery finish. Somewhat dry mouth feel with some resins that coat the mouth. I expected more with the description, but it is a decent IPA all things considered.

22 oz. bottle - thanks dchmela! Pours copper, hazy and reddish. Head is a wisp of thin, white froth. First flavor to hit you is the hops - which is good for a beer of this name. Not hop forward, but hop strong. Nice malty backbone, with a distinct EC IPA flavor. The answer to the Southeast Hop Bomb question.
