Commercial Description:
2008 will forever be known in professional brewing circles as the year of the Hop Shortage. Brewers everywhere are scrambling to find hops just to produce their standard line of beers. Some are so nervous they are even cutting back on brewing hoppy beers. NOT US! In typical Terrapin fashion we are going against the grain (or against the hops, so the speak). If there is going to be a shortage of hops, why not put them all into one huge hop bomb of a beer? We hope you enjoy our HOP SHORTAGE ALE.

Pours a nice orange amber with a one to two finger creamy offwhite head. The aroma was piney, fairly hoppy, sweet, citrusy, resinous, nice nose. The flavor is pretty waxy and bitter. There is an initial rush of citrusy, grapefruit peel, sweet hops, and overall hoppy goodness. Then its starts to get waxy and more bitter. Nice flavor overall and a nice mouthfeel. Enjoyed this.

The color was golden/orange. The head was creamy, thin, and white. The aroma was sweet, apricot, and hops. The flavor was apricot, hops, alcohol, and waxy at the back of the mouth. The palate was smooth with light carbonation. The finish was waxy.

Bottle. It pours a clear golden copper with a pale white head. The aroma is very hoppy with lots of pine, grapefruit, lemons and little bit of honey and caramel. The flavour was a little disappointing. It isn’t bitter. The pine and citrus flavours are medium intensity with some light toffee sweetness. As the brew starts to warm, there is a slight bitterness to it. One thing I do have to say, though, it’s definitely a thirst quencher. It’s tasty, but needs more robust flavours.

Rating #500 Bottle. Pours a clear copper with a small white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma of floral & citrus hops with notes of sweet malt and caramel. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness. Very tasty.

22 oz. bottle on 4/21/08. Clear golden amber pour under a medium white head that settles quickly. Starts off with honey and toffee aromas which are soon replaced by soft citrus notes with just a hint of spiciness. Medium body and carbonation, mildly resinous and pleasingly dry. Nice balance in the flavor between a delicate malty sweetness and gentle lemon rind bitterness. Nothing is overstated here - a well balanced, flavorful, and easy drinking IPA.

Bottle courtesy of durhambeer. Pours copper with a rocky white head. Smells of perfume with some floral hints. Tastes moderately bitter with lots of pine and citrus. Mouthfeel is full. Finish yields some spice. Nice!

(22oz bottle, thanks Immy) Medium off-white head quickly dissipates atop a crystal clear light amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, orange/grapefruit, some duskiness. Taste is medium sweet, grapefruit, some orange. Resiny medium body, light acidity. Despite the promise (threat?) on the label, this is no hop bomb. It is, however, a tasty beer.

Thanks to Immy for this one. 22oz bottle. Pours clear amber in color with foamy off white head. Aroma of floral hops. Taste of mild hops, grapefruit and light malt with bitter finish.
