Commercial Description:
2008 will forever be known in professional brewing circles as the year of the Hop Shortage. Brewers everywhere are scrambling to find hops just to produce their standard line of beers. Some are so nervous they are even cutting back on brewing hoppy beers. NOT US! In typical Terrapin fashion we are going against the grain (or against the hops, so the speak). If there is going to be a shortage of hops, why not put them all into one huge hop bomb of a beer? We hope you enjoy our HOP SHORTAGE ALE.

The Dan Journal #208. 22oz bomber. Tasted 7/21/08. Clear with an amber golden hue. Trace off-white head. Sweet caramel nose. Syrupy malty notes. Medium bodied with a bright effervescence. Big malts and a big citrus bitter hoppy finish. Resinous hoppy character. Touch brown sugar in the middle palate. Mildly astringent. Bright fresh and delicious.

Golden pour with hints of orange. Decent hops and sweet malt on the nose. Nice balance of hops and malt. Medium bodied with slightly aggressive carbonation. Nice beer just seems to be a bit more of an apa?

22oz bottle from Willow Bend Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a just slightly hazy dark copper color with a thick and foamy off-white head. Good head retention. Aroma is sweet and malty with hoppy citrus and grapefruit notes, orange, some flowers and maybe just a hint of spice. Flavor is fairly mellow for an IPA with prominent notes of sweet malt, citrus and orange peel and hops. Light to medium body with a hoppy finish.

22 oz bottle

I found this a while ago and decided to give it a try. Unsure whether it would be an aggressive IPA or something more mellow based on the name it was going to fun finding out. Terrapin has always made good beers. This one was no exception; if they made it a regular addition to the lineup I think it would sell well.

Aroma / Appearance - The clean copper colored body was sheltered by a pure white head. Grapefruit and orange were held in place by a floral foundation. The total impression was of a freshly waxed hardwood floor on a cool spring morning.

Flavor / Palate - The dry woody start flows quickly past the tongue before sticking in the throat. It then morphs into chocolate dipped orange slices before a resiny finish. Despite the name they didn’t skimp on the hops with this one. This is definitely worth drinking fresh if you can get your hands on it.

Bomber from GAManiac. Thanks dude. Pours a deep orange glow with a 1 finger tan head. Nose is very hoppy with a good citrus hit. Taste is full of resin and is pretty hoppy as well. Pretty good overall.

Hazy golden amber pour, with a small fizzy soda head. Resiny citrus hop nose, with a mild bready cookie dough maltiness. This has mellowed quite nicely and has remained quite well balanced. Very sublime and easy to drink.

Thanks to goldtwins for the trade. Pours a lightly hazy copper with golden/orange notes and a medium creamy/bubbly off white head that laced. Aroma of pine resin, pink grapefruit, light orange, caramel, toffee and some lightly toasted grains. Flavor of caramel malt, pine, grassy, some grapefruit and lightly toasted notes. Moderate hop bitterness for an IPA.

Pours a clear deep orange/amber with a tall, long lasting white head. Piney citrus aroma. Lightly bitter with a good supportive malt base. Very nice!
